Robert Warwick Star In Novel Story
of New York Life, From
Famous Book
The film attraction at the Casino
Theatre on Monday will be "The City
of Masks," adapted from George Barr
McCutcheon's novel of the same name
and starring Robert Warwick.
The plot is built up around the
novel idea that there are hundreds of
men and women in -New York con
cealing the fact that they ai'e of noble
birth by occupying humble positions
as chauffeurs, governesses, and the
like. Once a week they meet at a
certain house and assume their right
ful identities forthe evening. Robert
fact that many of the funniest inci
dents happened behind the scenes and
were merely mentioned by the play
ers. In the photodrama every amus
ing situation is actually shown, and
the result is an hour and a half of
constant merriment. ,
The story concerns a vaudeville
juggler whose marriage to young
Smith causes his aunt to disinherit
him. When her will stipulates that
he must divorce his bride in order to
inherit two million dollars, the young
couple scemes to perform the letter,
but not the spirit of the instrument.
