grams reaching them from business
houses throughout the country direct
In contradicting the impression that
has been spread forecast that business

likely to become worse if proposed
trust legislation is not pigeon-holed
and other alleged irritating causes dis
posed of. These communications are
in response to the action of the pres
ident in making public certain circular
letters directed to bring Influence to
bear on congress to sidetrack trust
legislation.
If President Wilson's idea that de
pression is a "state of mind," is cor
rect, then the letters indicated that the
president, by his recent remarks, may
have inaugurated a different "state oi
mind" in the business world. At any
rate, thp writers of the letters assert
fhere is more noticeable improvement
in the business world in the last few
tha-for months before and that
tlie records of -the great majority of
business houses show better business
for the past six months than for the
six months before that.
LEGAL ASPIRANTS

Supreme Court.
Tallahassee. The June examina
tions before the state supreme court
began with a large attendance of ap
plicants. Forty-six graduates from
the Florida university and Stetson un
iversity anneared and presented
their diplomas of graduation from
these colleges, and in compliance
with the law, were given certificates
from the court to practice law In the
state without being required to take
the examination, here are about
twenty who appeared without diplo
mas from these colleges and are tak
ing the examination, making in all
something over sixty applicants at
this semi-annual session. The names
of those who are taking the examina
tions ai not given out yet.
