Mrs. A .M. Warr left Wednesday for Georgetown for a visit of several days with relatives. 0. M. Mitchell ofDalton, Ga., is the guest of his son, Dr. Mitchell for a brief visit. L. Cantrell, popular farm demon strator, was in town Monday looking after the interests of the farmers and the Boys' Pig Club. Miss Winnie Cannon, member of the girl's canning club, is being con gratulated on winning the first prize of $75.00 for best individual exhibit at the Duval County Fair. A. M. E. Anderson, representing the American Products Co. of Cincin nati, spent several days in Welaka re cently, calling on the housewives in the interest of a non-alcoholic flav oring extract. Rev. W. C. Troutman, pastor here of the M. E. church, South, for the past year, has been assigned to Fort Green, near Lakeland. His successor for the Welaka Mission will be ap pointed at a later date. A. Maxhausen of Detroit, left Mon day for homo after several days spent as the guest of Geo. Wangbichler. Mr. Maxhausen is owner of the De troit Aben-Post, an influential Ger man newspaper. Mr. and Mrs. Lackey of Portland, Maine, have returned to Orlando where they are spending the winter, after several days pleasantly spent as the guests of Mrs. Hagar. John McRae, experienced barber, has returned from Titusville and will operate a well equipped barber shop in the rear of the pool room building. A. W. Williams of Sanford has leas ed the Douglass market for the win ter. Mr. Williams was engaged in the meat and grocery business at San ford for several years. John Points of Palatka recently in stalled a gas lighting system in the Town Hall. The gas in generated by machine in rear of building and sup plied to different lamps by air pres sure. It is successful and lights the hall .brilliantly. Sunnyside, Welaka's popular resort hotel, is being renovated in prepared ness for the opening Jan. 1st. Mr. and Mrs. Metz, owners, will arrive about Dec. 27th. Capt. and Mrs. G. P. Wilcox arrived this week from Pasgue Island, Mass., and are located at their pleasant home on Palmetto street for the winter. The captain is a lucky fisherman, and each season lands several of the twelve pound bass which abound in the waters near Welaka. Dr. Maurice E. Heck, of the State Board of liealth, advises that he wiV make an ii.spection of Welaka within ten days. Dr. Heck was well impress ed with the cleanliness of Welaka on his last visit. Mrs. Galop, Miss King, Miss Green, Mr. Stier and Causey Green formed i jolly party from Pomona who mo tored to Welaka Wednesday and spent the day fishing and hunting on the Ocklawaha. The local branch of the Florida Ci trus Exchange, with headquarters in Bryant's warehouse, will commence shipping fruit soon. The Welaka Ex change, while only recently, organiz ed, has the support of the largest fruit producers here, and under the management of C. L. Greenwood, its success is assured. (NTERLACHEN NEWS. The Congregational church opened the winter season last Sunday morn ing, with a new carpet for the floor, a new organ for the music, and a new pastor in the pulpit. Rev. and Mrs. J. R. Green arrived last week, and the morning sermon at the church was Rev. Green's formal introduction to the congregation. The new organ, a fine Mason & Hamlin instrument, is a delight to both eye and ear, and is greatly appreciated by the choir and congregation. Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Lothrop arrived Friday and are now at honie to their friends. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Andrews and Miss Charlotte Andrews came in en Monday. Mrs. Phelps and daughter, Mrs. Hastings, left last week for Lakeland, where they will remain for part of the winter season. Miss Ethel Gillett has returned home from Jacksonville, where she spent several weeks with her aunt, Mrs. Thompson. Col. C. H. Duncan, Mrs. Duncan, Miss Jessie Duncan, all of Oil City, Pa. and Mr. F. W. King are guests this week at the Lake View. The Sunshine Society held its last meeting for the year Tuesday after noon at the home of Miss Coburn and a delightful "Who's Who" program was enjoyed. Prof. Pinholster and Miss Pullen arc holding rehearsals for the school entertainment to be given the Fri day night before the holidays. The program arranged is most interesting and will consist of dialogues, recita tions and music. Miss Pullen not only plays the piano well, but sings also, and the school children are all enthusiastic over the coming affair. The V. I. A. is holding a bazaar at the church for the benefit of the build ing fund. Useful and fancy articles are on sale, and sandwiches coffee, candy, ice cream and cake are sold. Mrs. Stanley Knight has returned from Lake Geneva. Hon. W. R. Revels made a trip to Lake Butler and other places this i week. The dredge boat has made its re turn trip thru the railroad bridge, which was taken up last Thursday for its passage. The dredge will now gradually make its way to the out let. The Epworth League of the Metho dist church holds weekly meetings. The Junior League meets Sunday af ternoons. Miss Laura Wilkinson of Johntown is visiting friends in Florahome. Mrs. A. D. Rowe of Grand Ridge, 111., is spending the winter in Flo rahome, and is at the Park Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Notenstein from Virginia, have been at the Park Ho tel for a few days, and contemplate making their home here. They are now visiting relatives in Bradentown. STOCKHOLDERS' MEETING.
