Punta Gorda's leading young men have organized a progressive club, in which will be inculcated a zeal for the general advancement of the community, with the pur pose of making of all who are ad mitted to membership better and more useful citizens. The organi zation will also embody certain moral and refined .social features, in which it will be conducted as a secret society and carried on for the benefit of its own members. It is the intention' of the leaders in the movement to promote only such objects as will elicit general commendation and to avoid any thing that will bring the club into disrepute. A Japanese fete was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fitzgerald in Solana Monday evening for. the benefit of the Episcopal church. The rain which fell late in the afternoon kept many people f roin attending, but in spite of this the affair passed off pleasantly, and those attending had a' fine time.
