French Railroads Reduce Rates for Large Families. The French Chamber of Deputies, according to a Paris report, on Wednesday of last week passed a bill by which it is provided that families having four or more children will enjoy special privileges as to railroad fares. Those traveling third class will be given reductions In rates amounting lo thirty per cent, to families having four children, forty pvr cent, to those having five children, and fitly pel cent, to those having six or more children. armistice provided that it take effect on January 3, and that it may be terminated by either side on twenty four hours' notice. Armistice Signwd by Ksthonia and Russia. A dispatch from Dorpat, Ksthonia, states that on December 31, the first step toward peace be tween Soviet Russia and Esthonia was taken by the singing of a tem- the trail of the third, which had been wounded. McLane and Cribble joined the pursuing party and when the wounded deer was jumped" again, helped in trying to down him, but without avail. Col. Cribble was sure he could kill it with his number fives if he could only get a fair shot. Time and again the crowd "cut down" on the deer and each time all thought that he was a "dead one" but not until the colonel finally got a fair shot was his deership finally downed. The question of who kill ed the fleer is a much debated one and seems to be about as hard to so've as to decide who killed cock robin, but evidence in-the case seems to point to the colonel as the man who fired the fatal shot. , Altogether 17 shots were fired at the one deer and it is thought that nearly all took effect. Sold by all druggists adv. Denikin's Army Being Steadly Driven Back by Bolsheviki. The position of the anti-Bolshevik leader in South Russia, Ceneral Denikin, is rapidly becoming extremely critical and, with the utter collapse of tire Kolrliak forces in Siberia, and the re lease by the armistice, for use In South Russia, of the Soviet forces which have lately been occupied in the activities on the Ksthonian bor der, it now seems unlikely that Gen eral Denikin will be aide to defer final defeat for more than a few weeks or perhaps but a few days. Latest reports indicate that his forces are retreating on all fronts and that the Russian Soviet army is in hot pursuit. By a recent sudden concentration of forces against Deni kin's center an important victory was secured by the Bolsheviki, and they are now exploiting their advan tage to the fullest possible extent. There is also said to be another threatening situation in Transcaspia where the Bolsheviki claim that they hace occupied Djeb-el station. More over, Red reinforcements continue to arrive in the Nerv region of Trans caspia, thus seriously menancing the borders of Persia and Afghanistan and rutting off the retreat of Deni kin's army in that direction.
