Why you should use Cardui, the woman's tonic, for your troubles, have been shown in thousands oi letters from actual users of this medi cine, who speak from personal experience. If the results obtained by other women for so many years have been 60 uni formly good, why not give CaiUui a trial? A kiss In time may prevent nine. Bashfulness and awkwardness are twins. Even the miser Is generous to bis faults. A pretty young widow Is never a-miss. Love of a man for himself never grows less. Many a friendless man is his own worst enemy. Too often there is a 6tlng back of honeyed words. No wise woman trusts a man who trusts to luck. Even the unmusical fish dealer knows the scales. The more some people tell you the less you remember. When the widow ceases to weep her weeds soon dry up. Truth and a woman's age are not On speaking terms. Ennui Is merely old-fashioned lazi ness putting on lugs. Love knows nothing about philos ophy and cares less. After all, the easiest way to do a thing is to do it right Enterprise Is a sprout that Is pruned by experience. A woman doesn't necessarily cry when she sheds tears. Matrimony has cured many an old bachelor of selfishness. Any man who buys a male is sure to have a kick coming. More people are pinched by pov erty than by the police. The open season for hunting trou ble lasts o65 days d year. The man who is long on words is apt to be short on deeds. Some people do odd things for the purpose of getting even. Our Idea of n wise girl Is one who can't sing and knows It. ! The first and last years (if a man's j life are not very strenuous. Persons not vaccinated are not per mitted to vote in Norway. Begin to educate your grandchil dren by educuting yourself. But the mother always has an ex cuse for the juvenile terror. In Iceland whistling Is forbidden as u breach of divine law. Love realizes its blindness shortly after the marriage ceremony. When in need of a good line of talk, patronize a telephone company. Stage jokes are evidently made of kind words, for they never die. The popular watering place at this stage of the game Is the office cooler. When some people feel for the poor they never feel In their pockets. When a fool offers to hack up his argument with a bet n wise man shuts up. An average man Is generous to a fault, if It doesn't belong to other men. If people were given all they prny for the world would have to he en larged. Women think no more of stealing hatpins than men do of stealing um brellas. No. Itnfalo, a man should hide noth ing from his wife even If it were possible. People who attend to their own business have but Irttle time for crit icising others. Love Is a good deal like a stubborn mule. There's no telling whnt kind of stunt it will do nert. When you meet a man who fs thor oughly content, you see one where nmbltlon has gone to bed. A minister talks about his "work," but the male members of his rongre gation are apt to call It a "snap." Any girl can paint her own por trait several years In advance by get ting her mother to pose as the model. There Is one good feature about breaking up housekeeping; it enables people to get rid of their old furniture. HAS BUST OF HERODOTUS Subscribe for THE HERALD. Antique in Metropolitan Museum of Art Identified as Portrait of Father of History. Dr. Robinson, director of the Metro polian Museum of Art. In New York, has Identified an antique marble bust, which has been in the museum's store room for 20 or 30 years, as being a portrait of Herodotus, "the father of history." The marble, which has lain In dust nil these years, will now as sume an Important place of honor In the Institution. There are but five known portrnlts of Herodotus. The New York portrait bust was originally found at Henha, In Lower Egypt, and passed Into the possession of Emll lirugsch Bey, from whom It was acquired and presented to the Metropolitan Museum of Ans. The recognition was based on the re semblance of the known portraits and the finding of the learned man's name Inscribed upon It. As a work of art It was not very highly regarded, but as the sixth known portrait of Herodotus It assumes new dignity. It Is also said to be one of the best portraits extniit. FEED. A movement to abolish tomorrow Is now in order. Among all the things thnt cause trouble to humanity In gen eral, tomorrow is probably the worst offender. Nothing hnppens tomorrow in Just the way we expect, and in most cases dread. The time we spend in wonder ing what tomorrow will do, and In worrying about It in advance, If ap plied today would fortify us ugainst the unexpected more than unything else, tomorrow is the most uncom fortable place there is to dwell in.
