Spray Irish Potatoes lor Late Blight.
Duo to the excessive rains thin
season many fields, especially in iho
Hastings district, had to be trans
planted, which means that there v." 11
be a great deal more potatoes than
usual to come in late in the spring
Therefore, it should be expected that
the late blight may be of much great
er importance this time than usual,
provided of course, the weather is
favorable to the disease. On this
account, Dr. C. D. Sherbakoff, truck
pathologist at the Experiment Sta
tion, strongly recommends the grow
ers to spray potatoes for late bl'gbt.
Start spraying early, repeating the
operation every 10 days until about
a week before digging time. Sm iv
thoroly with 4-4-50 bordeaux mix
ture, freshly made. The best re
sults are obtained when the spray
ing Is dono under about 150 pound?
pressure, and when from 50 to 100
gallons of the spray mixture is ap
plied per acre. The smaller amount
is sufficient for the first spraying
when the plants are small. The
larger amounts will be required with
the increase of the size of the plants.
Always attempt to spray before a
rain.

Russia's Prototype
One must go far back to find the
prototype of the present soviet gov
ernment of Russia. The deposits of
Europe have usually been satisflvd to
have a monopoly of military and pol
itical power and have tolerated
freedom In industry. Rut ancient
Egypt furnishes a parallel. Lennie
is said to be a czar; it would be more,
accurate to say he is a pharaoh.
Russia's urban proletarians are in a
state of slavery akin to that of the
swart civilians of Ramses.

CONSIDER QUALITY FIRST
When Buying
QROCERIE5
It behooves everyone. In this day of high prices, to
make their grocery money go as far ns possible, but
this is not always accomplished by buying where
prices are lowest. In fact, the contrary is true.
For instance: There is a certain brand of pineapple
on the market thnt sells for 10c u can less than we
charge for the highest grade pineapple. The cheap
brand Is si poor as to be until for human consump
tion in other words It Is put up to sell to those who
demand cheapness and not quality. We do not
handle this character of goods. The pleasure we get
out of our meals is half Ihe pleasure of life and npon
the quality of the food we eat depends in a great
degree our stale of health.
Don't buy for cheapness for you will lie "stung"
nine times in ten. Come here if you want "quality"
and fair prices for that quality.
