The fact that we can get Mowers out f doors at Christmas time Is In Itself a sufficient Justification for growing the Christmas rose, but besides that It Is worth growing for itself, says Country Life in Amerlcn. Its large white flowers, fully two Inches across, resembling those of a glnnt single rose, although as a matter of fact it belongs to the same family as the but tercups, never fail to excite enthusi asm In the season of snow and Ice. The plant Itself grows only six to eight Inches high, and the large, greenish-white flowers are borne in clusters and nestle closely among the dark green leaves. . I i irea u ... m PRESIDENT'S TURKEY FROM TEXAS EY o Editor Punta Gorda Herald :- Dear Sir: While I have not the pleasure of your acquaintance, I knew Mr. Adrian P. Jordan and his son very well. I understand that both are still actively connected with the publication of the Punta Gorda Herald. It will be fifteen years next Sun day since I first appeared in the pulpit of the Presbyterian churorh of that village of sunshine, oranges. pineapples, many other good thinirs. and delightful people. How I wish I were there now. In thinking of the days gone bv when I resided in Punta Gorda. I have written these lines, and if you niUI II lit ing to rlo SO vnn mav publish them with my Christmas greetings to the splendid people of Punta Gorda. I "Wish you merry Christmas" and "HanDy New Year." with npvur a sorrow ana never a tear, a year full of gladness, of supremest joy, one round of enjoyment with naught to annoy. This end, fellow Christian, you surely will gain, by trusting com pletely in Christ Jesus' name for all that is needed for making life bright, for filling your heart with angelic de light. The sweet voice of angels, at Uethlehem heard, that gladdened the shepherds, their saintly hearts stir red, you also may hear as you read in the Word the song which they sang at the birth of the Lord. There is joy for you ever in serv ing the King; 'tis happiness ever with angels to sing. The world opens wide in glad service for you, with the pearl'd gates of heaven each day in f ull view. . Then bravely go forward Into the new year, with never a dread and with never a fear, go trusting in Him WHY Sl'FFKH SO? Why suffer from a bad back, from sharp, shooting twinges, headaches, dizziness and distressing urinary ills? Punta Gorda people recommend Doan's Kidney Pills. Could you ask for stronger proof of merit? Mrs. W. H. Walters, Goldstein St., Punta Gorda, says: "A few years ago I began taking Doan's Kidney Pills for a severe case of kidney complaint and they gave me great relief. . My kidneys pained terribly and made it hard for me to straighten up. My kidneys didn't act as they should and caused me a lot of misery.
