James F. Sikes, able lawyer of
Clearwater, arrived Tuesday night,
to pay a holiday visit to his parents,
Mayor and Mrs. J. N. .Sikes, and his
sisters, Mrs. J. K. Skipper and Miss
Anna Mae Sikes.
The local lodge of Free and Accept
ed Masons and the chapter of the
Order of the Eastern Star will have
a joint installation of officers elect
next Monday evening. At the con
clusion of the ceremonies, an oyster

J. S. Cottrell, who is prospering
and raising a fine family at Moore
Haven, came here in a car, Tuesday,
and went back yesterday, taking with
bim an elegant new automobile vhich
he had sold to a leading citizen of
Moore Haven.

the Tourist Club, Tuesday night, are

Walter A. Kaler and his pa-in-law,
J. J. Haslett, came in by auto-mule
vehicle from the Marlboro section,
Tuesday, did a lot of shopping, were
greeted by many friends and went
back the same night. Since retir
ing from the newspaper business,
Walter is doing some fine and profit
able farming. It is the life, he says,
and it. surely is.
Mrs. Luke Scott, age about 74
years, was found dead in her back
yard, last Thursday afternoon.
Physicians say her death resulted
from paralysis, this being a second
stroke. She leaves a husband, one
son and two daughters to mourn her
loss. Her husband is a fisherman
and was at his work down the bay
at the time of her death.
R, W. Conn of Louisville, Ky., one
of our most genial and popular win
ter residents, is amongst ua a:.'iiin,
having arrived at noon, Tuesday.
He is looking around tc rent a cot
tage; meantime, a general ami cor
dial welcome is being given him.

daughter, Miss Louise Conn, accom
panied by his cousin, Mrs. Henry
Bullitt, will arrive January 1st. Mrs.
Bullitt will be the season's guesr of
the family of her brother, Will H.

here, have won the esteem of our
people and always receive a cordial
greeting.

A traveling minstrel show exhibit
ed here to a large audience, Saturday
night. This was the second show of
the kind to appear here within three
days.

A bevy of our girls who are attend
ing the State College at Tallahassee,
came home Saturday, to spend the
holidays,, and were given a loving
welcome. They are: Misses Anna
I Mae Sikes, Irene Riley, Sallie Jones
and Nina Mae Stevens. The last
named came in an automobile with
Pastor Rice of the Methodist Church,
and Mrs. 0. L. Fries: the others came
by rail.
