Pledging ( 'aloosnhatchee
The big government dredge, "Sara
sota," is at work five miles above
Fort Myers at the jetties in the
Caloosahalchee river, deepening the
channel to seven feet, according to
the Fort Myers News. The work has
been going on steadily for the past
two weeks since the dredge came up
on the work and it is reported that
very satisfactory progress is being
made. The jetties is one of the
worst places in the river for traffic
and it is gratifying to note that this
work is being done by the govern
ment at this fiilllc.

Hot Water Wells
Apropos to the subject of the Se-
brlng hot water wells, concerning
I which there has been so much pub
lished in the state papers recently,
it might be interesting to note that
F. A. Angerstein, a former resident
'of Boca Grande, is authority for the
statement that a hot water well was
struck at that place some ten or
twelve years ago, at a depth of 1,600
feet. The water in this instance was
salty, however, and being of no ap
parent value, was capped and aban
doned. Another well drilled about
the same time proved a dry hole, and
jfrom that day to this Boca Grande
'has been unable to strike a satisfac
tory flow of good artesian water.

ently locating in Florida.
Miss Sarah Curtiss, Misses Sadie
and Cecil Card and Mr. and Mrs. G.
L. Foley motored to Arcadia to at
tend a dance Tuesday evening.
F. H. Blount and a party of friends
were out fishing on Alligator creek
last week.
Redfish weiv plentiful in the creek
Monday and Tuesday, our local Isaac
Waltons had great sport.
Card and Foley are trucking on the
Geo. Davis place.
George Davis is in charge of an ice
house down the Gulf coast.
Robt. Davis has returned from Fort
Ogden, where he has been engaged
in picking fruit.
Our genial county chairman, R. S.
Windham, met with the Lee county
commissioners last week in regard to
the Fort Myers short-route. "Dick"
intends to put it through.
Mr. Duval is home from Moore
Haven.
No frost in this section last cold
snap Sunday and Monday nights.

Frank Sparks and Harry Plainer
spent Christmas week in Lee county,
turkey and deer hunting.
Frank Sparks and brothers, of
Amiston, Alabama, are fishing and
hunting on Miakka river this week.
C. Potter Lucas was turkey hunt
ing in Lee county during the holi
