Blount went on a busi ness errand to Tampa, this morning; will return tonight or tomorrow. Mrs. O. J- L- Smith returned yes terday from Moon- Haven, where she spent the past month visiting Mr. Smith. The local chapter of the Eastern Star wll meet at 7::',0, sharp, this (Friday! evening. The worthy ma tron requests a full attendance. Amongst winter visitors leaving for their homes this morning were those popular Tennesseeans, A. B. Church of Carter's Creek Station and Sam Cannon of Thompson Station, Frank lin. H. L. Dotson, a former citizen of this place, who is now traveling for a Saint Louis shoes concern, is spend ing the day here, meeting his many friends. A dance, Wednesday evening, at the elegant home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Carrier on the bay front in Solana, was largely attended by both local people and guests from Arcadia ind other places. It was one of the most delightful social events ot trie season. A little private game of cards Sun day night cost the four participants therein $20 each. Somehow Chief of Police Adams learned that ar rangements were being made for the party and after it was in progress he stepped in and asked lhat the players each put $20 in the pot which he would hold until they appeared be fore the mayor. They all put in but it is understood did not go before Mayor Carleton and the chief is still holding the pot. The participants in the game were Messrs. H. Rasch, Elwell, Patrick and Barthaw. Were it not for high freight rates still greater reductions would be possible Freight on envel ope from Jacksonville to lunta Gorda averages 20 percent of the cost of the envelopes, and on flat paper stock the freight averages 10 itrroent of of the cosi of the stock.
