Lindberg, Manager John Holmes, Cashier and Assayer PLAN THE ERECTION OF A CITY THEATER Believing that there is an aching void in the matter of a social play house, several individuals are ma turing plans for the construction of a large hall and theater, wherein local genius may lie allowed to spout this winter and home-grown histrionic talent be given a chance to unfold itself and blossom. Thomas McSmart, says that he is already assured that he will he able to go through with the propo sition, and has the backing for a building 50 by ico feet, allowing for a large stage and still leaving room for plenty of dancing space. Should the theater be erected in the near future, there will be a series of home-talent productions through the winter. There were at least 150 people there accord ing to the estimate of the gatekeeper, nor can he be accused of seeing double, since he w'as on the job all the time, and the affair passed off most pleas antly with nary a ripple of discontent. As is the usual custom at masquerade balls, very few dancers went en masque, but there were some startling cos tumes nevertheless, designed to charm and allure; to supply the “dreamy cre ations” which adorned many of the females surely heavily taxed the re sources of the leading modistes of New York, Dikeman, Pat is, and other fashien centers. That they did so is eloquently testified by the fact that they were all dancing when the hour of 4 in the morning came around.
