A number of sportsmen and
hunters are under the impression
that the quail season opens Sep
tember 15, but such is not the
case. Qüaih grouse, partridge,
snips and rail cannot be shot-,
according- to the jjame laws of
the territory, except on and after
October 15, to March 1.
The killing of antelope is pro
hibited by statute until January
1, 1911. and theshootiiig of elk
and mountain sheep is prohibited
Other. restrictions are placed
on the hunters, such as the killing"
of; female deer and the killing" of
more than three male deer in any
one season. Only 25 quail are
allowed to be shot in any one
day, by any one hunter, and the
sale of any and all protected
game is prohibited.
Non-residents of the, territory
are required to procure a license
,eacb year. The license costs
$10 and can be secured from any
county recorder inHhe territorry.
According- to the statute it isa
misdemeanor for any Indian" to
hunt or kill any game other - than
on the government reservation
