MADDOCK, State Engineer. Phoenix. Arizona, May 5th, 1922. SCH00LB0VS ESSAY ON COW CONSCIOUS POWER "The public welfare must in a large measure depend on the farm ers." "No doubt of it," said Farmer Corntossel. "Not only do we raise the crops, but we do a whole lot of the v'otin'." SHOULD HAVE SEEN THAT Smith, a lover of music, took his friend Vere de Vere to a pianoforte recital. Smith was enraptured. He turned to his friend, who held the program, and asked, with feeling, fWhat is that magnificent thing he io play ing now V "Can't you see?" replied Vere de Vere. 'Tie's playing a piano." Evidently Youth Had Made Deep Study of That "Nobull and Kine H carted Creature." The cow is a nobull and kine hearted creature. The man who looks after her is called a cowherd, but for all that he is no coward. Cows exist by means of ox-ygen in the atmosphere. By the cow is the milk made. I know this to be true, for I have seen the milk-maid by the cow. The cow has been introduced into song. There is an old song called the "Soldier's S'teer." This was written in Beef Flat, as was also that very pathetic ballad, "For Heifer and Heifer." To call a cow an ox is to make a bull. Crutches for cows are called acoustics. A cow likes resting. It will sleep in a shed and lie on the grass, but it will not stretch itself on a couch. A cow does not carry on an argu ment very obstinately. It will soon give whey. Cows seem to do pretty well, for even at death they make both ends meat. I can't think how it is so many calves die young. Per haps the butcher could fe-veal the secret. New York Herald. HAD FAITH IN HIM DONT RISK NEGLECT Don't neglect a constant back ache, sharp, darting pains or urinary disorders. The danger of dropsy or Bright's disease is too serious to ignore. Use Doan's Kidney Pills as have your friends and neighbors. Ask your neighbor. R. L. Marksbury, miner, Coffee Canyon. General Delivery. Miami, Ariz., says: "My kidneys were in an awful condition and my back was so lame and stiff, I could hardly get about. I was all out of sorts. My kidneys act ed irregularly and the kidney secretions were unnatural. I was also troubled with dizzy spells. I surely needed something for my kidneys when 1 began using Doan's Kidney Pills. They help ed me in a short time. 1 was soon nxea up in A.-1 shape. Since then, I have used Doan's Kidney Pills once in awhile and they have kept my back strong. and my kidneys in a sound. healthy condition." 60c, at all dealers. Foster- Milburn Co., Mfgrs., Buffalo, N. Y. HIS DISABILITY Algy I made a perfect fool of myself this afternoon. Alrce That's nice. I knew you'd make something of yourself if you kept on trying. A negro veteran sauntered into the Pittsburgh chapter headquarters of the American Hed Cross. ( "What can we do for you?" in ! quired one of the workers. 1 "Fse in trouble and need some ! help." "Were you in the army? You know we cannot do anything, for you unless you are disabled. Do you have a disability?" "I should say I have. I've got a wife and child." But as liability and, disability could not be reconciled in this case the veteran departed somewhat dis appointed. Pittsburgh Chronicle-Telegraph.
