-May 5, 1959 Council Meeting Held j n A-ril The Council met on Spril 27, with Lemuel Paya, Chairman, Flynn Watahomigie, Sub-Chief, Stanley Manakaja, Chief, and Edith Putesoy, Secretary, present. Some of the matters discussed were; 1. It w a s decided to buy some equipment for the Havasunai Jail from the Court funds. 2. Public Health Services a t the Grand Canyon for H a v a ,supai Indians living there was discussed by the Council. Medical Payment for medical services will be paid if authorization is first gotten from Dr. Strange, Meeical Officer in Charge, Indian Health Center, peach Springs, Arizona. 3- Travel pay and pay 1 for Council mem bers attending me-tings was voted by the Council for regular meetings only. 4. The Council requested that an attempt be m a de by Mr. Bobo, Sub-agency Superin tendent, to get a surolus tractor for the H a v a sup a i Tribe. This w a s discussed with Mr. G-illiland, Mr. Boger, and Mr. Perry during their visit to Surai. 5. It w a s voted to h a ve a movie or some sort of entertainment for the tourists every week or two to stimu late social life in the Canyon. Welfare Man Here Mr. Terrin, Mohave County Welfare Director, Kingman, Arizona,; Mr. Paul West, Field Representative of the State Dent, of Public Welfare, Phoenix, Ariz.; and Mr. Calvin Patterson, Counsellfcr for the Blind Services, Div. of State Dept, of Public Welfare, Phoenix; and Mike and Pat Finnegan and Sue Terrin and Mari lee Jordan all of Kingman came to Supai yes terday afternoon. They reported being in a snowstorm up in the forest. They had a flat tire and had to get out in the cold wind and snow to change it.
