But this year, let us think of George Washington at Valley Forge and at Yorktown, when he was laying the foundation of our United States on the principles of freedom and democracy. Many inquiries have come to the state bureau of mines as to the re sults of failure to file application of notice to hold mining claims under Fublic Resolution No. 12 before the required date, December pi, as many notices were filed at a later date. Thru the courtesy of the' Honor able Carl Hayden, the following opin ion has been given by Clay Tallman, j commission of the General Land Of- fice at Washington, that it wouldseem j that the failure to file notice of -inten- tion to hold a mining claim on or be-, . fore December 31, 1917 in no way af- j i fected the possessory title unless' the j , said claims were relocated between that date and the actual date of fil ing. j For instance, if a man failed to file until January 10, and his claim were not relocated between December 31 and January 10 he would not lose title. This is an important opinion, for it will affect many cases. BIG DAM BEGINS; CAPACITY MILLION FEET YAKIMA, Wash., Feb. 20. Do'you know you have asked for this priceless thing As a child might ask for a toy, Demanding what others have died to win Withjthe reckless dash of a boy? You have written my lesson of duty out, j Man-like you have questioned me Nbw stand at the bar of my woman's soul Until I shall question thee. You require your mutton shall always be hot, Your socks and your shirts shall be whole, I require your heart to be true as God's stars. And pure as Heaven your soul. i You require a cook for your mutton and beef; I require a far better thing; A seamstress you're wanting for stockings and shirts I look for man and a king. A king for a beautiful realm called home And a man that the Maker, God, Shall lpmk upon as he did x the first and say, "It is very good." , I am fair-and young, but the rose will fade From my soft young cheek one day Will you love me then 'mid the falling leaves, As you did 'mid the bloom of May? Is your heart an ocean so strong and deep I may launch my all on its tide? A loving woman finds Heaven or Hell On the day she is made a bride. I require all things that are grand and true, All things that a man should be; If you give this all, I would stake my life To be all you demand of me. If you cannot do this a laundress and cook You can hire with little, to pay; But a woman's heart'and a woman's life ' Are not to be won that way. Cena Lathrop in Kansas City Star. Ground glass in samples of 606, the universally used blood specific, was discovered recently by County Physjfiian Chas. E. Rooney, after he had injected a portion into the arm of a woman about to become a mother The woman was suffering from a terrible blood disease and had appeal ed to the physician for relief. Ground glass in large quantities is plainly seen with the naked eye in the powdered remedy now on hand at the physician's office. 606, or Novarseno benzol "billon" was formerly only made in Germany, but to avoid the hideousness of death by the ground glass route the medicine is now made in P,aris and reaches this country thru Montreal, Canada and is sold by the Brown Prescription Labratory of Los Angeles to Yuma druggists. Just how much of the murderous stuff has been sold in Yuma or its ef fect, is hard to determine, but there is no doubt of the intent of Germans to murder Americans ,by the wholesale While glass in food taken into the stomach means quick death, its injec tion into the blood thru the veins may be a lingering agony, as the glass is very likely inocculated with deadly germs, which nulify the benefits of the blood medicine and hastens death. This is the first time Hun fright fulness has been unearthed here since the war began and is a warning to all citizens to beware of fine foods and powdered .medicines. Dr. Rooney has wired his discovery to Washington. Altho clouds threatened yesterday; and a chill wind blew from the west, only a trace of rain fell in this coun try.
