yesterday afternoon and ii receiving
the congratulations of bis many

Sheriff Fly was an incoming passen
ger on the train tbis evening and was
loaded to the brim with anotberbnnch
of subpoenal. A a result quite a
number of our good people are biding;
out or else goinx to bed very early in
order to avoid being canght, as the
aying goes. Tbey might as well save
themselves the trouble though for
they've got tobe pretty cute to give all
of our Bisbee Sleuths the tlip and .at
the same time keep out of Sheriff Fly's
way.
Pol, Levi and Joha E. Quinn, two
rival clothing drummers, are in again
at the. same. time, and are doing tome
great ruBtling lor the winter trade.
In some mysterious way these two gen
tlemen always seem to arrive in town
about the same time and they gener
ally manage to keep th:cgs moving in
their line while (hey slay. They are
not meeting with their wontod success
of late, however, owing to tlie presence
in our midst of a first-class tailor who
offers just as good, and in-seme casee
even better values than tbey can give
and, make their traveling expenses.
Our pople are beginning to realize
this Jact and to patronize our borne
lailcr instead of the sundry "middle
men that visit our town periodically.
We were pleased to note today that
Mr. John Metealf has recovered from
bis.recsnt indisposition ao far. as to
again be about town, We are heartily
thankful for tbis ourselves; not only
from a friendly feeling for the geatle-
man, but also as it is the meant of
favijg us. from numerous pretty an
noyances. During the brief period, of
hie illness we were besieged almost

bers of Bisbee's promising young

getting along and willing to do almost
anything in tbeif power to keep him.
It was useless for us to tell them that
we knew nothing about his condition,
for tbey seemed to think that a 15
cent correspondent ought to know
everything, and we were compelled to
get rid of them by various artifices
and subterfuges in order to enable us
to Attend to pur regular daily routine.
The young gentleman's reappearance
in his usual walka has of course tend
ed to scatter this email army and has
agaTn left ns tree to pursue ear usual
avocation witbeut danger cf the tor
ment and worry of so many anxious
heart-stricken young ladies. Letue
