Today a monstrosity in the shape
of a "dog-boy" was biought btfore
Probate Judge Bradley to be examin
ed as to it sanity with a view of com
mitting the prodigy to the asylum or
some institution where ha will receive
the proper car 'and attention. The
"dog-bay" is nearly 16 years of
and named Rudolph Prrctardo. Noth
ing is known of the history of the un
fortunate, further than be was born at
Xogales Mexico, and both his parents
dead. A Mexican woman, a friand of
tbe family, has been taking charge
of the Loy and lias been living at Bis-
bee. Being poor and having a large
family to support, tba woman turned
her charge ever to tbe county.
The "dog-boy" is an imbecile, can
not speak but one or two intelligent
words, is blind and Indeed an object
of pity. Though possessing perfect
human features he has tbe charao-
teristios of a dog, barking and baying
lika a canine, and an inclination or
tendency to go about on all fours.
When standing, hit body bands over
as if more disposed to navigate on
bands and feet. When left alone he
crouches in a heap and rests in a
haunehed position ; tbe palms of his
hands show much wesr by constant use
as a means of xnorine about; his
ankle is peculiarly formed enabling
him, at will, to move hit feet in an
unnatural manner. Being fed some
milk the dog-boy drank it in gulps.
At intervals be barks uninterruptedly
for a few moments and then moans
piteously while occationly fellows
grunts and gutteral noises. While
net repulsive looking, the creature's
helpless and pitiful eondition cannot
fail to leave its impreisioo. Ha will
be committed to the asylum at Phoe

Peter Johmrn and family returned
to Bisbee this morning after a stay of
two days in the county seat.
The Tueson base ball team will cross
bats on September 2nd with the El
Paso Dine in the latter city.
Chloride will iisue bonds to tba
amount of 2,000 for the purpose ef
building a new school house.
On the line of the proposed Morenci
Guthrie railroad, in the canyon near
Morenci, the track will make tbres or
four loops.

A big concession of land near Otxaca

The board of Supervisors today set
tbe tax rate at $4.25. The rate for
the variant requirements will be
published tomorrow as tbe official
minutes of tbe board.
The most promising mining engi
neers and experts, sayt the Denver
Mining Kecerd, pronounced the
whole Cripple Creek distriot as worth
less, stating that gold cauld not exist
in such a formation.
Several boilermskers in tbe South
ern Pacific sbops here have ..re
cently gone to Honolulu to accept
petitions. There teems to b a good
demand for this clasa of mechanics

Jerome tart, Jerome was thrown into
afaYtralaxei-ement today by a bind
of Apache Indians in war paint passing
through. The leaders o! tht tribe
stopped and purchased a large amount
ot ammunitoln and hastily lift in tba
wake of their fast disappearing com
rades. The band baited in a canyon
in tbe vicinity of Red Rock where tbe
mutilated remains ot an Indian and
papoose were located. Bath wers
buried and the braves took an oath of
vengeance ogainst theZunis, the sup
posed perpetrators ot these crimes.
The Zunis are a New Mexico tribe
while tbe Apaches are of Arizona. A
bitter enmity has existed for years be
tween tbe tribes but a truce had put
an end to hostilities. The murdered
Indians had left their reservation near
Camp Verde and were surprised by a
band of Zunis, Tbe Apaches took
their trail in the direction of New
Mexico and the old settlers fear that
a terioat outbreak will follow and end
in tbe extermination of one ot tbe
triber.

Tbe COO mules which passed through
Tucson last Friday by special train on
the Southern Pacific will be utilized

four hundred dollars each. The quarter-matter's
department has already
abouttwelve hundred eflheee animals.
There are nearly two thousand more
owned by the departmant which will

properties, divided among twenty

The Spenezuma Company, which
has been denounced as a fraud, an
nounce that tiny are to commence
mining operations on a large scale.

It would appear that Tombstone is
a little previous in death announce
ments when there is na corpse to
back: up the announcement. A dity
or two sinoe the reported death of a
Tombstone lady atirred up society but
people breathed easier when it was
learned that it was a false alarm, now
another resident is supposed to ba
dead, but he too, wbiln otherwise
obliging, refuses to accomodate the
whimsical caprices of Dame Rumor.
To-day Mr. John Miano, the well
known tonsorial artist reoeived a con
signment ot freight labeled "one
headstone monument" Mr, Miano
does not contemplate dissolution and

mysterious shipment has been pro
ducthe of food for the gruesome
joker and another report was circula
ted that Miano was dead; for, it a
beiditoje cr monument to mark a
graeii to be regarded as prima facio
evidence ot a departure from this
life, certainly the proofs were here.
Mr Miano takes the matter good-naturedly
and keeps on shaving. He
will examine the freight shipment
when it arrives.
