The New Mexican says that 209 cases have been filed in New Mexico and 9 cases in Arizona, making a total of 278. Of these 28 have been tried, and 19 of the 28 hare bees decided. Appeals were taken in 5 esses, two by the U. S. and 3 by the claimants. 4 cases have been tried but not decid ed. The surveyor general bat hereto fore acted on ninety-four of the grants filed, and fifty of the grants of the entire number fail to give an estimate of the number of acres claimed.
