LEVIN JXrsSJTO LADIES' TAILOR OFFER TOO SMALL Factories Will Not be Sold at Figure Named. United States Judge James L. Mar tin, of Hrattleboro, has denied the ap plication of the receiver of 'the Hard ware & Woodonware Co. of New York, for permission to accept an of fer for eleven of the Hlxteen factories controlled by the company, which are In the hands of a receiver. Rcprescn tatlves of creditors of the company when they returned to Hrattleboro from New York, where the hearing was held, stated that objection to the petition was made by creditors who felt that more money should be rea lized from a sale of the plants. The receiver also expressed a belief that the offers for the plants might bo In creased. One of these plants Is the S. A. Smith factory In llraitleboro, for which an offer of $5G,000 has been made. The total amount offered for the eleven factories Is $440,:i75, which Is less than 75 per cent of the amount due to creditors. It the bids can be increased to somewhere near the amount due the creditors, it Is likely that no opitosltlon to the Bale will be made. It in apparent that the stock holders will not realize anything on their stock. The inventory of tho eleven factories In question Is fl,.V(!,. 319. The original owners of the fac tories took stock In payment when they went Into the combination. Homo of the factories are not doing over half the business that they were a year ago, and the falling off is duo In part to the fact that the factories are in a receiver's hands. Another thing svh4'h-wk- it practically im possible to operate tho plants at a profit Is the fact that the interest charges are enormous, running from 12 to 20 per cent. Most of the fac tories, it sold, will continue to do business under a general manage nient, but the plan is to operate the S. A. Smith plant through another agency. Otis, of the Honolulu Drug Co.. tells us of two Interesting cases. One was swollen with dropsy due to advanced Iiright's Disease and both tho piiMuit and his physician had given tis hope. Otis kept urging a trial ul the new treatment until the patient finally consented. Recovery was conipU-t". the patient leaving a few mom lis Inter for California where he nuw reside?.
