Bentley which occur ed at his home in Urbana on Fri? day morning last at eight o'clock. Mr. Bently was a member of t lu Virginia Annual Conference of the M. E. Church, South, but since his last* illness from con? sumption, he has made his home in Urbanna, He was born and feared near here ami the people of West Matthews especially, have held him in high regard as a good man snd a good preacher. His death is very much lamented. Truly it may be said of him "He served his generation bv the will of God"' and though dead, we believe the influence of his conse? crated life will live after him. Farmers here are very busy turning under rye and German Clover a'ld find it the cheapest improvement of the land they can get; the land is planted in corn. The potato crop is looking well but the bugs are just as industri? ous as the farmers. Mr. Carter White made a visit to his parents. Mr. and Mrs. J. I).
