Richardson's Drug Store where they enjoyed some of Mr. Ernest Hudgin's de? lightful -ice cream sodas. Thev left for their homes at a late hour much pleased with their evening's enjoyment. The Ladies of Central M. E. Church, Mathews Co. Ya. will give a Lawn Party at the home of Mr. G. S. Marchant on Tues? day and Wednesday evenings, the 8 and 9 of Aug. A big effort will be made to entertain those present. There is a good wharf at Mr. Marchants place and all parties desiring can land in a boat. Little Lambert Sadler, the s>>n of Capt. Alphonso Sadler, of Nor? folk, is visiting at the home of his grandfather, Robert Sadler, near Diggs. The protracted meetings will begin at Salem M. E. Church on Sunday, July 23. Rev. Dadman is expected to assist. There will be all day meetings and dinner on the ground after Monday. ? Lotust. LAUNCHING PARTY. On Monday evening of last week, a delightful launching par? ty was given by Mr. George Hud? gins of New Point in honor of Miss Hattie Hudgins of Winter Harbor. The party steamed out of Horn Harbor promptly at six o'clock. After a delightful ride of about an hour and a slight de? lay of perhaps fifteen minutes, the party landed on New Point beach. A short call was made on Capt. and Mrs. Marchant of New Point Station. The remainder of the stay was pleasantly spent in various ways. Some hunted for souvenirs, some strolled over the sand beach, while others seated themselves and inhaled the re? freshing breeze to their heart's content. At ten o'clock the par? ty returned to the hospitable home of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. O wens where delicious ice cream and cake were served.
