Walpole has taken over the interests of his partner, Wm. Kelly, in the real estate firm of Walpole & Kelly, and will now "go it alone." The masquerade ball given at the Grand opera house Friday eveiling was well attended. The floor was crowded with maskers, and King Carnival had every thing his own way for several hours. Prizes for the beBt cos turnes were awarded to Mrs. R. M. Durkee and J. D. Rainey. The ball was one of the most enjoyable events of the seaaon. A spelling achool and basket social was held Tuesday evening at the opera house, under the aus pices of the lecture course com uiittee. A large number was in at tendance. A short program was given, followed by the spelling school. Sides were ehosen by R. M. Williams and R. M. Durkee, tnd after «n hour's trial, a de cision declaring the former's side rhe winners in the contest was given. This was followed by the auction sale of the large number of baskets contributed by the ladic«.
