If a little butter is wasted at each meal—ft it amounts to only a tableapoonful each day— for the United States this amounts to 115,000,000 pounds a year. It will take half a million cows to produce this amount and a whole army ot men to feed and care for the cows. Waste no butter and thus release this army frpm this useless work. If half a cup of Milk is wasted a day—not much when ^divided into three meals and among the whole family—yet it would take nearly half a million cows to produce It for the families in the United States. An ounce of meat a day Is not much especlaly when divided among the members of the family and for a whole day's meals, yet far the United States it would take over a million head ot cattle or nearly four million hogs to make it up. It the ounce a day is wasted by each family sea' what an army of men and what feed and equipment it will take to make up for the waste. A slice of bread divided among the members of a family tor one day's meals makes a very small portion for each meal. For a family of four it wo)i Id be one-twelfth slice per person per meal. Yet for the United States it would one and a half million bar rels ot flour a year. It would take seven million acres to produce it and a whole army of men and equipment. When any waste ia allowed it means when totaled up for the homes lit the United States, a tremendous total or even if It is but one home in a Toledo. It makes a big totaj. Waste should be cut out and what would have been wasted wU help feed our soldiers aad hungering millions In Europe. Any waste allowed In an American home means making the farm that much less effective in help ing win the war and It also means that much more hunger to some hum an being who ia helping us win the war. This also brings out the importance of cutting down on the use of wheat, meat, sugar and fat by using substi tutes. While the amount saved in one home may not seem large yet when the total for the United States is considered the aggregate becomes a mighty factor in feeding our sold iers and allies.—W. C. Palmer, North Dakota Agricultural Co)Jfege. Proper Jood far Weak Stomachs The proper food for on* man may be all wrong for another. Every one should adopt a diet suited to his age and occupation. Those who have weak stomachs need to be especially careful and should eat, slowly and masticate their food thoroughly. It is also important that they keep their bowels regular. When they be come constipated or when they f«el dull and stupid aafter e&tinpt they should take Chamberlain's Tablets to strengthen the stomach and move the bowels. Thpy are easy to take and pleasant in effect. OATTLE FOR SALE I have on hand good general purpose heifers for breeding pur poses, mainly two years old.
