Com. Locals. Proceedings of the Republican Mass Meeting at Orange City, Oct. 9. In obedience to tbe call of the Orange City Republican Executive Committee a large crowd of ladies and gentlemen col lected at tbe Deyannan bouse to listen to speeches on the political issue of the day by the Hon. Horatio Bisbee and Dr. W. W. Hicks. The meeting was called to order by Mr. J. E. Stillman who nominated Dr. Hammond chairman of the meeting: Mo tion carried unanimously. On motion Geo. H. Parker was elected secretary. The chairman then introduced the Hon. Horatio Bisbee who, in a speech of about two hours duration, held the undivided attention of the iarge and intelligent audi ence and was frequently applauded, He presented the financial question in a very able manner and explained his, votes on that question in congress. He also ex plained how the present Democratic state government have managed to make a slight reduction in taxation by reducing the pay of jurors, and witnesses, and refus ing them any mileage, thereby substitut ing a special tax on the individual for a general one which bore equally on all. After the conclusion ot his address, the chairman introduced Dr. W. W. Hicks who for about an hour kept the audience iu almost a continual roar of laughter and applause, at his sharp and witty hits at the acts and policy of the democratic party. At the conclusion of this address Mr. J. E. Stillman moved that a vote ot thanks be tendered to the distinguished speakers for their able address, Unanimously carried. All the republicans present went away highly delighted and fullv determined to do all in their power to secure the election of the Hon. Horatio Bisbee to the forty sixth congress, and all the democrats preseut were forced to admit that they tiad listened to two very talented speakers. H. J. Hammoxp, Chairman. Geo. H.
