I often thought that I would like to send you a su Inscription, hut there is no way for me to send any money from this place. I hope that you will receive stamps in payment. I don’t want to be without the Northern Light and am always glad to receive same I read it even before I read the letters from my own |>eople, when it happens that I receive both at the same time, so you can see how much I think of your paper. I like to read about the reindeer and gardening The Government has has a herd of reindeer at this place. C'.ood News l ay is such an isolated place that only thru the Northern Light can I find out how other sta tions are getting along. Now I will tell you a little about my garden last year. I planted 4 lbs of potatoes and received 72 Ihs in return last fall. Mr Ki'.btick was here the 15—16 tli. of Dec. And in honor of tli .t occasion we had a dinner with Good News 'dry Potatoes. The rest I am saving foi seed for this year,and will have all the Deer-boys and some of my people make gardens and give them seed and hope that we will have a better season this year then last so we will have good success.This is not an ideal place for gardening. Bat that vegetabes can be grown here of that I am certain. It will be a great thing for my people to be able 10 grow a lot of potatoes and turnips. My turnip* did wi do well Inst year. Had only 67 Ihs.ai.d tliey were smalt with lotsoftop.it was,however, the first year the ground was used. I hope to have better success this year. 1 had fine lettuce and radishes and all my people had 80 Radishes per family so as to let them see how fine it is to have nice vegtables.
