Law takes effect April Ist. Several unimportant measures were passed, which are to cover certain local conditions. Special message from Gov. Kibbev on mines received. FRIDAY. Ist The Council defeated the 3- eent fare bill. A bill excluding women from saloons was com pleted and was ready for gover nor to sign. The Governor’s special message on mines read and a bill prepared b\ him intro duced. Bills were introduced and several bills ot local charac ter passed. SATURDAY, 2d COUNCIL Bills passed. • Providing companies may not discorporate without consent of majority of stockholders or as long as there is any pending liti gation. Authorizing appointment of deputy district attorneys in counties of second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth class at salary of SSOO a year. Amending law with reference to issuance of summons. Relating to establishment of saloons within one mile of cities j and towns and showing what steps must be taken for their, establishment within three miles of mining camps. i Relating to frauds and fraudu lent conveyances. Concerning collection of road tax requiring employers to fur nish assessors list of emplo\'es subject to tax. Amending law for collection of delinquent taxes making the le-i gal duties in matters ofthat kind ! THE WINSLOW .WAIL a part of the duty of district at torney, so as to reduce the cost of collection. Authorizing city and town councils to fill vacancies obviat ing necessity of special elections. HOUSE. Bills passed. Bright Angel trail measure. Prohibiting peace officers from j carrying fire arms or making an arrest while drunk Increasing salary of public ex aminer to S3OOO a year, allow ing him clerk $75 a month and providing contingent fund of $1,400. Message received that Govern or had signed the following bills: Increasing per diem of jurors, validating transfer by city of Tucson of tract of land to high school district. Providing for salary of Judge John H. Campbell for period of two months. Appropriating $1,200 to meet expense of office of territorial auditor to end of fiscal year. Message from governor an nounced his disapproval of bill giving justices of the peace juris diction in cases of violation of town and city ordinances. MONDAY, 25th. COUNCIL Was adjourned most of day while committee was considering | mining bills. Memorial regarding Sam Car los irrigation was passed, and a couple of bills introduced. House bill regarding collection of fees by county recorder passed. HOUSE Discussion of anti-railroad measures took some time of the house. A substitute bill increasing sal ary of attorney general to $2400 a year with an expense fund of i SIOOO was passed as was a bill increasing the salaries of officers of territorial prison. Another; bill passed permits owners of toll roads to lease them for rights of way for railroads. This bill! I.was intended only to meet a condition existing in Mohave county and is without bearing ■ on any previous toll road legis lation. TUESDAY, sth Both houses visited Tempe Normal school in the morning.
