Facer, two enterprising mcr-l chants of St. Joseph, paid our | city a business visit this week. ; Mr. Richards, being extensively engaged in the cattle and sheep industry, expressed himself as be ing very much pleased with both, as the range for this season of the year is exceptionally good. Mr. Richards also stated that he did not expect that sheepmen would receive as handsome j prices for their wool this season , as during the past, but believed they would realize on their mut tons the deficiency. The-report of what must have been a very sad and heart-render ing scene was brought to town by J. Aliev, who is employed on the Dull Ranch about 25 miles south of Manila. Last Tuesday two boys about IT and 16 years old had succeeded in making what was supposed to be only a harmless toy balloon and were ascending into the air to a con siderable height with rope .at tachments and seemingly able to cause it to descend at their will, when their mother, Mis. Dull, called them in the house for their dinner, they pulled the toy mon ster to the ground and tied it to a bush and went into the house, J leaving behind them unnoticed their little T year old sister and the innocent little child in some unknown way managed to untie the supposed harmless toy mon ster just as a most terrific wind storm blew up and in some un known manner became entangled in the ropes and was being rap idly blown away when the screams of the frightened little J child for help quickly brought its mother to the scene, witnessing her darling little child fast being I blown from her and soon beyond all hope of rescue and the poor mother hysterically collapsing to | the ground heart broken and grief stricken and her mind is, now said to be fast giving away 1 under the heart strain. Dr. Brown was being ablv assisted in this work bv Road Master F. Me ■> ‘ , Nutt, who, it is said, displayed wonderful ability in both the medical and surgical line on this special occasion. Rear Admiral Morgan and Mrs. Morgan have returned from California where they have been visiting for the last 30 days and expressed themselves as having had a most excellent time.
