LOCAL NEWS □ □ Mrs. Williams Passes Word received from Monrovia, Cal., is to the effect that Mrs. Marie Wil liams, died in that city recently, fol lowing a lingering illness. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Williams were former resi dents of Phoenix, and have many friends here who will mourn her pass ing. * * * Remodeling His Home Mr. Geo. S. Rodgers, president and general manager of the Western Mu tual Benefit Association, is making some extensive repairs on his home at 25 N. 11th street.. A new wing has been added, entire new roof and other exterior and interior improve ments. * * * Church Property Sold Recently the trustees of Tanner Chapel A. M. E. church, 2nd street and East Jefferson, entered negotia tions for the sale of this property. The deal has been closed and the trustees will purchase another site for the erection of a new and greater Tanner Chapel. The Rev. A. H. Hamilton, pastor of this church, de serves no small degree of credit for the progressive and forward steps now being taken by this congregation.. * * * New Office Building Mr. and Mrs. Perry Payne are erecting a modern office building on their property at 60 So. Third St. This structure will fill a long felt need and ere it is completed, every avail able space in it will have been leased.
