The distance from New York to New Orleans (wharf to wharf), is 1800 sea knots. The line has been run for some years, and is known as the Cromwell line. The Knickerbocker's average trip out against the current was days 7 hours, tieing the Hudson, and beating the New Orleans 3 hours.
