Boise City, Feb. 2. A shock ing tragedy occurred at Culdwell yesterday. Edwmd Holm w,is killed by A. C. Carlo, a barber. Helm, who is a muscular man at tempted to thrash Carl, who drew a pistol and shot. Helm, indicting fatal injuries. Death was mstan t neous. Helm was formerly an infantry soldier, stationed at Boise barracks, and has a family living in Oregon. He was formerly a hard drinker, but of late years has been relig iously inclined. His mother re sides near Colfax, W. T. Carle escaped. A sheriff's posse are on his track, but he will probably not be captured. The Canadian Pacific railway will apply to the British Columbia legislature for a charter to build a road between Kootenai lake ana the Columbia river, and steamers will be put on the Columbia be tween the terminus and Revel stoke. The object of the scheme is to prevent the trade of tho rich mining district from going south by tho Kootenai river to the North ern Pacific.
