Mr. Reed was until recently editor of the Neway go Democrat. Rev. W. L. Munger is away on a short vacation at Traverse City, visit ing his old parish and friends. Tho Alumni reunion held at Hotel Beldlng, Saturday evening, was a grand success and when the meeting was called to order, the spacious parlora were filled with high school graduates, teachers, school officers and many friends. Music and song interspersing the program was furnished by the Misses Mabel Spencer, Bertha Moo and Lena Leonard. The welcome was given by President Alfred Locke iu a fine ad dress. Lulu McElroy gave a reading and Miss Pearl Beldlng recited, fol lowed by Chas. P. Locke in an excel lent nancr. Tho exercises were interesting and loudly applauded. At ten o'clock carao tho banquet, and a liner menu and service mine host W. P. Hetherington never before arrang ed. Tho tables looked simply elegant and after tho ninety people, who sat down to them, had finished the rich repast, toastmaster Clay Tall man call ed on Chas. Knapp to respond to the toast, "Dreams and reality," Lena Moc, "Airy nothings;" Laura McCon nell, "Sharps and fiats;" J. T. Berry, "Somo clocks do not strike;" and Chas. R. Footo, "Looking backward." Each of the afterdlnner seeches were sharp and witty and at the same time brought out many bright thoughts. The Beldlng women's club celebrat ed President's day, Tuesday afternoon at the residence of Mrs. H. A. Lamb, twenty-six memlers of the club were present and Mrs. Lamb gave them a ordlal welcome. Holmes Music Tables were spread on tho lawn and a fine tea served. French's kid band marched up there about supper time and gave a fine serenade receiving loud ipplauso from the delighted listeners. John Cremiu and family will soon move from Holding and the many friends of Mrs. Cremin gave her a very pleasant surprise one night last week. They gathered to the number of about forty and the evening hours passed pleasantly. Before departing she was presented with a silver tea set, and Mrs. L. L. Holmes in presenting it said: Dkah Mrs. Crkmin: A few of your friends and neighbors have gathered tonight to give you a happy surprise and spend a pleasant evening with you, knowing that liefore long you expect to leave us. You have lived in Beld lng three years and during that time you have made a great many kind, warm, loving mends, who are sorry to have you go. As you go back to Chi cago, a city of so much excitement, and meeting your old friends, and forming new ones, we were afraid you might forget your Beldlng friends. At the residence of the bride's par ents Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Hammond last night occured the marriage of their daughter, Bertha Caine Ham mond and Mr. Chas. Baty. The cere mony was pronounced by Rev. O. J. Golden at eight o'clock, the bride and groom being escorted by Miss Lena Hunt and Mr.Orlo Hammond as brides maid and best man. Mr. E. B. Lap ham presided at the organ while the party approached tho altar In the par lor. They were introduced to the company and received congratulations after which refreshments were served. At ten o'clock nearly twenty of the bride's young lady friends chaproned by Miss Jessie Pressly gave tho hap py couple a serenade, all of whom were invited in and treated to ico cream and cake. A dwelling house belonging to N. Wallace located in the south part of the city took fire last night alsnit 9 o'clock and was entirely consumed. The firemen and a large crowd were on the sjHit quickly, but considerable delay was occasioned In getting water ou account of the length of hose neces sary to be strung from the nearest hy drant. Halph Lloyd broke up fishing camp "t Pine Island lake last Saturday, where ho and several of his young roen friends have beeu camping. They caught plenty of fish. John B. Arnwine has taken the con tract for delivering at Lowell for the Hallou Basket Co., eight thousand dozen fruit baskets. The Baptist young people will have charge of tho morning service at the church, next Sunday. Very neat and appropriate children's day exercises were held at the Congre gational church, Sunday morning. Children's Day was observed at the baptist church, last Sunday. The church was crowded to the utmost and all who attended report tho church well decorated, the program unique and well rendered. Mrs. Sarah Woodln, who has been In the employ of tho Richardson Silk Co., at Holding, for the past 15 months, has returned to Evart. Evart Review. Uyron Brown and his mother expect to leave, Monday, for a four weeks' visit in Colorado. They go first to Highlands to visit Mrs. Fred C. Moys. "By" Intends going to Cripple Creek and Pike's Peake also. Tho Degree of Honor members and their families will meet at Mrs. Tina Wright's, Friday June 26th. Ladies meet in the afternoon and bring pic nic supper, gentlemen come for sup per and spend tho evening. In Mexico it is common to see orange trees with ripe fruit and blossoms on at the same time, but it is uncommon here to see an apple tree with half grown apples and blossoms on the same branch. D. E. Wilson has such a sight in his yard. Hev. W. L. Munger delivered the annual alumni address at the Kalama zoo College Commencement, last week, and the Christian Herald says: "It was a clear ex(osltion of the subject, every way creditable to the speaker who is an alumnus held in high esteem by his brother alumni and the friends of tho college generally." Tho marriage of Miss Edith Van- Buskirk and Mr. Arthur Clay was sol emnized at the residence of Mr. Peter son's last night, by Rev. O. J. Golden in the presence of of about twentyfive relatives and friends. Mr. II. I. Van- Busklrk the bride's brother and Miss Lillian Clay the groom's sister stood up with the couple when tho ceremony was pronounced. Tho couple looked neat and the wedding was a very pretty one. The ico cream social given last Wed nesday evening by Mesdames Cooley and Jenks for the benefit of tho Otisco Cemetery Association was a marked success socially and financially, the receiuts of the evening were $11.00. Much praise was bestowed upon the lteautlful floral decoratsons of both houses and lawns, the principle flow ers were pansies and lillies. Many thanks are due tho firm of Mikesell & Lloyd for their most generous loan of a large number of Japanese lanterns, also the young ladles who so kindly served the tables. The Stratford club's annual picnic occurred Monday and the committee selected Long Lake as tho place for holding it. The whole day from early morning until nearly the stroke of twelve at night was consumed in the outing. All of the club gentlemen Included this time were encamped on the Methodist grounds and the time not spent in eating the delicious viands prepared for the event, was utilized in boating, hammock swinging and a general jolly time. Many favors were bestowed by Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hall who have a fine boat livery and who never fail to make it pleasant for patrons. It is an elegant place to spend a few days away from business cares.
