Gave Farewell To Dr. Wilkinson Upwards of three hundred of old j neighbors and friends of Dr. W..AJ Wilkinson and lantlly gathdred at his home in Orleans, Tuesday night ; to give them a farwell reception, elec tric lights had been wired on the lawn and the large company ,had plenty of room to visit and greet each other and bid the doctor and family, good bye. Refreshments of cake, wafers and ice cream was served in abundance and before the breaking up time come Fergus Flannigan called to order and rounded up the family and presented Mr. .Wilkinson with a thermos bottle, Mrs. Wilkinson with a beautiful necklace of beads and each of the gifls- with a ring in be half of the company. Mr. Flannigan refered to the fact the doctor who had been a resident there more than twenty years was a gocd fellow and they were sorry to see him leave, that they had given him lots of business by having the gripr flu, measles, whooping cough and all other epidem ics and hoped when he goz sick of Texas he would return to Orleans. (Ctand Trua And Ready) class of the Methodist Sunday school met at the home of their teacher, Mrs. Ed. Covert, last Friday p. m. at 5 o'clock the occasion being a progressive din her in honor of Beatrice Ayers one of their number who is soon to move to, Hastings. Mrs. Covert served the first course, soup, after which they all went to the home of Beatrice Ay ers for the salad course which was very much enjoyed by all. They then Proceeded to the home of Marguerite icken on Peck's Hill for the regu lar dinner course which consisted of scaloped potatoes, potato salad, cold meat, sandwiches, pickles and coffee. After a social hour spent in music and singing they again started on their journey for the fourth and last course which was served at the home of Trellis Conant. They could not have mistaken the place for the tables were already set in the front yard and lighted Japanese lanterns hung over them.V Mrs. Chase, Mrs. Conant s neighbor, kindly played her Victrola near an open window while the Conants' were busy serving home made ice cream and cake After this another social hour was spent playing games and then the girls departed for their homes with many thanks to all who helped to make it such a grand success. j May Organize Glasgow Club Rev. Geo. A. Critchett, pastor of the M. L. church at Nashville, was in the city on Thursday in the interest of Mr Cassius L.-Glasgow's candidacy for governor. Mr. Critchett says that he found sentiment real strong here for his candidate and that there is a possibility that a Glasgow-for-Gov ernor club will be in operation ,here within a short time. Statement The net earnings of the General Motors Corporation during the first quarter of 1920 show the "profits to have been considerably in excess of the earlier estimate. 'Instead of about $20,000,000 the total was act ually $28,081,167. which is at the rate of better than $112,000,000 a year. In 1919 the net profits of the CMC totaled $C0,517.519. After de ducting expenses and taxes there re mained a balance of $19,754,516 available for dividends on March 32 last.
