J. Crossman, Secretary; L. A. Hoyt, Treasurer. Moved of Hoyt that the Secretary and President arrange for short term loans that will e necessary for the pomlng Fear. Moved by Hoyt that the Secretary furnish each paper with a copy of the regular meetings of the board and request that they publish same. On motion by Squier bill, of J. W Rogeis for truant officer $20.70 was allowed. Moved by Squier to pay a janitor at the west side building at the rate of $52.50 per month. ANNUAL SCHOOL MEETING Minutes of the Annual Meeting of the voters or School District No. 4, Township of South Arm, held In the assembly room of the High School Building Monday evening, July 8th, 1912. ' Minutes of the meeting of July 10th 1911, read and approved The Secre tary's finaucial report was read and it w as moved by Dick en, seconded by Nicholas that the report be adopted and the board be requested to publish an itemized statement of the items designated as books and supplies and miscellaneous expenses, amounting to 1,542 44. Motion carried. The Treas. urer's report was read and on motion by Lorraine seconded by SteiTes was adopted . The recommendation of the board to raise the following sums for school purposes for the coining year wan then read y the Secretary and adopt ed. On), per annum. Motion carried. W. P. Squier offered the following resolution and moved its adoption. Resolved:- that we approve of the encouragement of rtpnlerate albletics in our schools under school manage ment, in the discretion of the board. Motion carried. W. 1 Squier offered the following resolution aud moved its adoptlou. Kesoived:- that we approve the ad dition of the so-called commercial department, which gives instructions in shorthand, typewriting, com mercial law, commercial arithmetic, commercial geography, accounting, business correspondence and other kindred business topics, and that the work iurlhis department be elective and not. compulsory, and that full credit shall b given for work done in this department towards promotion or graduation. Motion carried. Wg P. Squier offered the following resolution aud moved its adoption. Resolved:? that it is the sense of this meeting, that our schoojs conform to the liberal standards set by the Uni versity as a condition of maintaining our relation as an accredited high school, believing ".hat t tic efficiency aud practical value of the high school to the community as in a whole are in no wise endangered thereby. Mot ion carried. Mr. Squier also offered the follow ing resolution aud moved Its adoption. Unsolved ;- that we recommend furth er. In i he discretion of the hoard, the addition of Manual Training and Do mestic Science and that the work in these departments shall be elective and not compulsory, and full credit shall be given for work done in these departments towards promotion and graduation. Motion lost. The meeting then proceeded to the election of a trustee to succeed E. J. Crossman vvhoe term of oftiec expires with this meeting. II. I. McMillan and XV. A. Loved ay were appointed tellers. The result of the ballot was as follow:- Total nutnbr of votes cast eighty, of which E. J. Crossman received rifty-tbrce, W. P. Squier twenty-rive and other names three. Mr. Crossman was declared elected. C L. Lorraine tendered bis resig nation as a member of the scliool board effective at once which was accepted. Moved by Lorraine, seconded by Stewart that the secretary be Instruct ed to cast the unanimous ballot of the meeting for W. P. Squier to till the vacancy caused by the resignation of C..L.
