Mrs. Thomas Nugent visited friends in Houghton Tuesday. ' Friday was pay day at the Nester mill and the Baraga Lumber Co's mill. Lawrence Rinke left Friday for a few dlavs' visit with friends in Sidnaw. ' The Baragas defeated the Michi gamme team in a game last Sunday Score 24 to 4. Robert and Bernie ' Byers, c Houghton, spent Sunday last in Biraga. John Seretta expects to open a confectionery store at Keweenaw Bay in the near future. , A number of Baraga people at tended the graduating exercises held in L'Anse Friday evening. The 6w barge Sweetheart is tak ing on a cargo of lumber at the Baraga Lumber Co's docks. The tow barges Exile and Crosth waite cleared from the Nester docks Thursday with cargoes of lumber for Saginaw. '' A The Baraga Juniors; went to L'Anse last Sunday and defeated a picked up team in that town by a score of 22 to 5' It is reported that there will be a game of ball at the park tomorrow betwen the Benedicts and the "Hen pecked" husbands. The steamer Schoolcraft and con sorts Mary Ann Bourke and George Nester were in this port Saturday last, after the tow barge Keweenaw. Arthur Rose, employed in the Nester shingle mill, had the misfor tune ol having the thumb on bis rigbt hand badly lacerated while at work Saturday last. 1 ( The tug boats Bruce and Vigilent left Ontonagon Thursday for Ash land, Wis., with a raft of .3,000,000 feet, of white pine logs for tbe Nester mill at that place.
