At the close he was at once challenged by young Goodell and they will try it again on Thurs day evening next at the Owosso Rol ler Rink. Later the winner has 'been challenged,, again, by George Robinson of this city, and the three will contest on the above date. A 11 year old girl named Eva Bradley, taken from the Coldwatcr Public School about a year ago by some parties in Clinton county, and afterwards transferred to a Mr. bte venson of this county, was arrested last week for arson on complaint of Stevenson. Both of these young men have been in the employ cf the Woodards for several years, and are two of Owosso's best citizens. We wish them abundant prosperity. Corunna Journal: It is getting to be a common thing for young Owosso boys to visit Corunna Sundays and paint the town red. Really they pre sent a deplorable sight. Two ex soldiers were mustered into the Wal lace Post last Friday evening. The Post is rapidly gaining strength. All old soldiers should belong to it. The Adventists of Judd's Corners are preparing to build a shed one hundred. feet long to shelter their horses. A Vernon baby was recent ly welcomed into the . world by its parents, grand-parents and great- grand-parents. VISIT OF QUACKENBUSII POST Quackenbush Post, No. 25, G. A. R., of Owosso, under the leadership of Commander Wiley, paid Wallace Post, No. 160, G. A. R, of Corunna, a pleasant visit on Friday evening last. They were cordially welcomed by Commander Wilcox in a neat and characteristic speech on behalf of the comrades of the Post. The vis itors were well pleased with the man ner in which they were received by the old soldiers of this city. After the adjournment of the Post they repaired to the Central Hotel, where a very pleasant time was passed. Reminiscences and recollections of the war were indulged in by the veterans and a general good feeling prevailed among them. Notwithstanding the jealously existing between the two cities, it was all forgotten by the friendly visit of the "boys in blue," who wish to retain the same brother ly feeling they had when they marched shoulder to shoulder over the bloody fields of the South. About thirty comrades composed the visiting delegation. Commander Wilcox was in his usual happy mood and made them feel at home. An invitation was extended the Wallace Post to attend the performance of "Andersonville, or The Scout's Last Shot," in Owosso, on Friday, Feb. 27th, which was accepted. Com mander Wiley is a genial, pleasant gentleman and made a very good im pression by his humorous and happy style. Three or four sleighs conveyed the visitors home. Journal. This beats the best record. Bert. Holmes, of Vernon, has sold his trotting mare (sired by Judge McCurdy) to T. Y. Whitney, of St. Louis, .Mich. As a two year old this mare trotted very fast at our county fair. Reported price $600. Messrs. James and Fred Osburn have sold to Bruce Buckminster their pacing mare; sire Napoleon; dam said to be a Morgan mire. This mare is a fast one, and she is likely to prove a bonanza, as a breeder. The magnificent imported Perche ron stallion "Volney" belonging to Hiram Byam that took first premium at the last fall fair of the Central Michigan agricultural society and was said to have been the finest ani mal of the kind ever brought into the State, died at his owner's stock farm in Eagle last Friday morning. His death occurred just a year to a diy from the time Mr. Byam lost the valuable imported horse "Montrose," a remarkable coincidence or else a very suspicious circumstance. Lan sing Republican.
