Hartshorn, chairman of the com mittee on settlement 1 with the county treasurer submitted the following report. To the Honorable the Board of Super visors: Your committee on settlement with the county treasurer respectfully report that we have compared all vouch ers presented to us by said treasurer with the balance sheet and find them to agree in every particular. We have compared the book .account kept by the county clerk with eaid treas urer with the debit items in the ledger of the treasurer and find them to com pare in every respect. We have also footed the several items contained in the report made by the county treasurer to this Board and find the footings to be cor rect as reported. We have also compared all orders presented to us as vouchers for expenditures with the stubs remaining in the order book from which said orders were drawn and we find them to corres pond with said stubs. We have com pared all bills of the treasurer as purchas ing agent for the county and find them to agree in every respect, and cancelled all bills and receipts presented to us as payment of said bills, and your commit tee after a careful examination of the books and papers in county treasurers office are pleased to report to this board the efficient and correct manner that treasurer Colby performs the duties of his office. Bigelow being duly sworn de poses and says that the abstract books in the office of the register of deeds having been duly posted to Jan. 1st, 1897, and that all fees belonging to the county de rived from said abstracts have been paid by him into the county treasurer as per resolutiou adopted by the Board of Sup ervisori from time to time, during his ad ministration as register of deeds of said county. To the Honorable the Board of Super visors: Your committee on abstracts re spectfully submit the following resolu tion relative to abstract fees aud duties of the register of deeds. Resolved. That the cost of, making abstracts for residents of Shiawassee county only, be established as follows For each conveyance up to and including twelve, the sum of twelve and one half cents, and for each conveyance over twelye the sum not less than five cents except for complicated descriptions which are described by metes and bounds for which descriptions the register of deeds is authorized to use his discretion but in no case shall he charge an amount more than double the amount above specified. For each search of the ' records made by the said register or his deputy he shall charge the sum of one dollar, and for each search of record by any other person he shall charge the sum of fifty cents. The costs of abstracts to non-residents of the county is hereby fixed at double the amount specified, one half of which, together with one half of the fee received for all searches shall be paid by the said register into the county treasurer and be long to the county. And all other fees received by tbe said register for abstracts and searches shall belong to him and shall be his compensation in full for his services in properly keeping up and com paring said abstracts. Provided however that the said register of deeds shall exe cute and file with the county clerk - his written assent to the terms of this reso lution. T. M. Euler, , D. Houghton, J. J. Supr. Young offered the following reso lution and moved its adoption. Be it resolved by the Honorable Board of Supervisors of Shiawassee county, that the resolution adopted Oct. 14, 1890 auth orizing and instructing the superintend ents of the poor in said county to employ resident physicians in the cities of Owos so and Corunna for the sum of $300.00 and $200.00 per year respectfully for medical service in the above mentioned cities be and the same is hereby repealed. Crane offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: Whereas, By the adoption of resolu tion offered by Supr. Peacock for the purpose of carrying into effect Act No. 233, 'Laws of 1895, and Whereas, Said Act provides for reasonable compensation for the services of commissioners for the performance of duties' under said Act, now therefore be it Jiesohed, By this Board that compen sation of said commissioners shall be and they shall receive for their services under said Act, the sums of $25.00 each annually from the first day Oct., 1890, and that such compensation shall be paid from the fund created by said Act. Harper submitted the following resolution: Whereas, It is believed that the oc casion will arise whereby it may be necessary to borrow money to meet the ordinary expenses of this county, there fore be it Jiesohed, By the Board of Supervisors of Shiawassse county, that the Treasur er of said county be authorized to renew present indebtedness, or borrow from time to time as the needs of Treasury demand, such sums as may ho necessary, not to exceed ten thousand dollars. Wo have also compared witness and juror certificates from justice courts and subpoenas from circuit courts aud sparrow certificates with stubs in order books and find them to agree. - We would recommend that such cer tificates and subpoenas bo destroyed in the presence of the Board.
