There will also be '200 special I Great Northern first aiml second prize ribbons goto premium win ners in the agriculture.!, garden, horticultural, slock anil dairy departments. The Times-Herald is pleased to find an awakening by local peo ple to the importance of the county fair and a few have come forward with special premiums and these will be followed oy many more no doubt. These premimums will not likely be confined to local people, however, as friends to the fnir have writ ten outside concerns suggesting prizes and it is almost assured they will respond. Another matter that will help is the decision of the fair board to print an invitation giving the fair dates on envelopes of any or all the business houses in Burns free of charge, the busi ness men to make a special ellort to interest their customers in the country in the fair and suggest they bring something to exhibit. The following special premiums will suggest to others who con template offering prizes: Wm. Farre will give $10 cash for the best general display of garden products by one individu al. Geo. Hacey will give $10 cash for the best suckling colt sired by Progress. Hagey & Richardson will give a case of Monopole brand fruit for the best general display of fruit by one producer. Randall and Passenger will give $2.50 cash for the best three sheaves of oats. The Times-Herald will give $5 cash for the best exhibit of alfal fa by one grower. The special prizes of $5 for the best wheat and $5 for the best potatoes grown on dry sage brush or bench land by M. Schwartz has already been mentioned. There are many things that suggest special prizes from busi-1 ness men which should have at-' tention. It is very desirous of encouraging interest in such pro ducts as will go in the Great Northern advertising car. In this connection we may say that Mr. Hill is offering a silver cup for the best general display of To Start Futiil for I'nlr. The 4th of July committee has some money left that was sub scribed for the celebration and after consulting the subscribers propose to apply the amount to ward a fund for the entertain-! .mont program of the fair if there are no objections. Tins is some-' thing over $100 and will give the fund a very substantial start. N. Urown & Sons will also Frank C.
