In Defense.
The Mellette County News, in its
comment on our railroad article of re
cent issue, rather tries to rub it iu on
us in a sarcastic way, and also inserts
one of his evasive assertions; that we
claimed that the railroad would stop
nt Wood. We claimed nothing of the
kind, although it might do just that
thing. Don't tack anything onto us,
Bro., that doesn’t belong to us. We
will bark anything we say, but do not
care to have to deny any of your ac
(prisations. Stick to the truth, even
if you ain’t in the habit of doing so.
As fur as the railroad is concerned, it
is all gu< ss work, but we are basing
our guess on good common sense, and
not on manufactured, missleadiug
blue prints.
A f*r township 12 2 s * that the Bro.
claims has more actual filings in
than we have in this township; we
have Io kt (I it up and found that the
southeast corner of said township is
almost a* close to us a< it is to White
K ver and can be counted *is being iu
our tt rritory, as the p< cp.lt* who live
there can get here in roernn n vehicles
while they need an air ship to get to
White River, and they cann it afford
such a luxury, as yet.
Our ‘‘population stunt' stands,
even if you bave.as 'ou claim, a lot of
children in your little town. They
can neither develop the country nor
vote in November.
Now. as for your remarks about
Will Tackett’s making us believe any
thing; you are on the wrong lead.
Just because you don’t dare print
anything that might emiuate from
your own think-tank, and have to de
pend on the Western Townsite Co.
and their bunch of followers fot dope
to till your sheet, don’t immagine that
we are in the same fix We use our
brains, and do not depend on those of
other people Don’t judge other peo
ple by yourself, because we are not
all alike —tbauk goodness.
