The polo tournament at this place Oct. 1(5 to 22, promises to be an interest ing event. Six teams will ^compete for the priae, viz: Sheridan, Rapid City, Ft. Robinson, Ft. Meade, Kansas City, and Hot Springs. The team from Ft. Robinson defeated every thing in Colorado this year, and Kan sas City hasn't been beaten for three or four years, so that the contest between those two teams will doubt less prove exciting, while the other teams have good records, Each team has four men and sixteen horses. It is expected that there will be from eight to ten hundred people come to enjoy the polo tournament week. The railroads have made a one fare rate. The grounds are being placed in fine condition and everything will be in readiness in a few days. Polo has never been played here be fore, although there are several who have indulged iu the game. Regarding the sport the Denver News says: "There is no purer form of amateur sport, than polo. The men who play the game do it absolutely for no other purpose than because they love the game. Victory is desired by all play ers, of course, but it is not considered absolutely essential. The exhilaration the game affords ami the joy of playing are inducements I strong enough to hold the player's interest iu the sport.
