We confidently expected, in response to ao invi tation, to make one of the Nashville representation at the above mentioned rc-union, but wag prevent ed bv circumstances bevond our control. They found that io ibe gallantry aud high bred courtesy of her eons, and the beauty and iuleiligei.ee of her daught ers, Rutherford can compete with any portion of our noble State. They ' speak in the most laudatory terms of Mr Stewart, uuder whose fuperinleudence the affair was coudut ted. He prepared for them such a feast as no one would have thought possl tie in a small inland city. Crooker's milliner y Establishment. We doubt whether the fair dames and belles of Nashville have ever experienced so much difficulty in the selection of a bonnet, as this season, at thn establishment. The cause is not to be found in the increased fastidiousness or captiousness of tbeir tastes, nor iu the paucity of the stock or inelegance of the styles. No; we must look for it in some other quarter. Their fancies, to tell the truth, bare been bewildered by the great variety and beauty of the assortment to choose from. They experience such sensations while beholding it. as one feela in a rich conservatory surrounded by the rarest ex otics, andlaved'in their delirious perfumes. Forty-eight Piano Fortes, subdivided as follows: Nineteen Grands, Three Semi brands. Two Parlor Grands, Thirty-three r'quares. In tha department of Piano Fortes, the committee, uniting into one class, as la obviomly correct, the Grands, Semi Grands and Parlor Grands, recommend the following awa-ds : Chickerinr ft Sons, for their Grands, Semi-Grands, and Parlor-Grand', for most decided and meritorious Improvements, a Geld Med il. Chickering ft Sons, for the two best Fqaire Piano Fortes, of Seven Octavo each, the first Silver Medal. The committee, in coming to a derision upon the merits of the several instruments of which they have just determined their award, were of entire unanimity. They did not hesitate tor a moment in deciding that tbe Grand Piano Fortes from the justly celebrated houeof tbe Messrs. Chickering ft 8ons, were not only altogether manifestly superior to all com petitors at the present Exhibition, but were an equally manifest, and great 'y advanced improvement over the well commended product n of the same establishment offered at anterior xbnione. And the committee not only feel it to be a pleasure, but an obvious duty, to congratulate the p extent head t of .his long established house, that they hav so well unstained Its high repute. The Parlor-Grand, first e i anated from the house of Chicaer ing ft .-ons, aud made its appearance at the exhibit on of 18' 3, aod the committee of that year awarded to it a Gold Medal; but inasmuch as the late lamented head ol the firm waa a member of the then Government of 'he rocieiy , the award could not beconnr . ea consis'ency who tne taws oi me Aseocia-ion. it won a auora Ui committee great satis faction could tr.ii award be now confirmed. In the class of Square Piano Fortes, the awa 'da of the committee were made with equal unanimity. The Instruments of Chickering ft Sous are at the head. It ia not necessary to discuss the merits of the other Square Piano Fortes in detail.
