To the Editor of the Patriot .I see paper of yesterday a commuoicUion in your signed "Capitol rjill," stating that for one, tw o aud sometimes three days in every week, those whore side on Capitol Hill are deprived of water "through the had management of the Water Works." Now, in reply to "Capitol UUI " I will merely elate that I am not at all surprised that citizens In that locality are frequent? without water, owing to the incapacity of our pipes to keep up a suffi cient supply. The city is at this time supplied from one Reservoir only, as the other is now being re built, on a larger scale. We are at present supplied by one inch pipe only, and as every part of the city Iihh to be supplied from that one pipe, it is not wonderful that the hiah points are frequently with out water. The fact hus been frequently reported to the Board by the Superinteudant of the Water Works. Had "Capitol Uill" callo on me, I would have taken pleasure, in giving hiua any explanation, of the cause of the deficiency, iu my power. I trust, Messrs. Editors, that you will bear in out when I say that for two years (and, indeed, as far bjck as 1852) I urged upon the Board the necessity of bringing a larger supply of water to the city. The improvement in the Water Works, which Is now goin on, i designed to remedy the evil, and is progressing as fast as possible. I am not cons cious of any mismanagement in my department of the Water Worke. Yours, respectfully, JOHN M. SEABURY. Gen. Houston's Texan frierKJs pronounce the re ported Tamaulipas expedition untrue.
