Only Victim of News From Air Frank A. Norton wai bom In Ypsllantl In 1867 and established the Norton TftS Son Greenhouse In 1893. The first building was 12 by 16 feet and was watered by a band pump and hose. At that time all deliveries were made on toot, no packages wrapped or dressed up. The new addition was erected in i9io and others added as necessi ty arose. Mr. Norton served as fire com missioner, alderman from 1908-1912 and mayor from 1912-1914. He Is still active in the business and, assisted by hie son, Stanley, works every day. Stanley Norton has established a fine reputation aa a florist. He has two children, Austin, 17, and Jean, IS, and Is a World War vet eran having served in the tank corps. His hobby, raising orchids, has resulted in his traveling many miles In search of new varieties. 60 of which he is the proud owner. One variety from Venezuela is now in bloom. Both Mr. Norton and his son congratulate the Ford Motor Cos.. Its able assistants and employes on the Bomber Plant and welcome all newcomers to' the city. Norton and Sons Greenhouse was the only building in tho city dam aged In the last war. This dis tinction came when a package of war literature dropped from an air plane made a direct hit through the greenhouse roof. When he purchased the store it was located In the residence where he now lives at 1 N Summit. Before entering the grocery busi ness Mr. Walton worked for the Michigan Central Railway Cos. for 15 years. He was In France during the World War. Mr. Walton Is a member of the American Legion and Washtenaw Country Club. He Is married and has two sons and one daughter. Sells Singers George Robins, local manager of the Singer Shop, has been with the Singer organization for nine teen years and In Ypsllantl five years, coming here from Jackson. He makes bis home at 51 N. Huron. Mr. Robins Is active In many local organisations, belonging to the Masons, American Legion Post 282, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Last Man's Club —Rainbow Divis ion. All new residents are welcome at the Singer Shop where new ma chines. as well as used ones, are available. MOTHER OF 17 A RAID WAROEN SAN JOSE, Cal.—UP—Mrs. Helen Petars, 42, mother of 17 children— the city's largest family— 12 of whom live, at home, finds time to do full duty'as air warden for her block.
