Precedur? for Insurance Claims Workers can file their claims ft»r old-age and survivors insurance at age Ho or any time thereafter, whether or not they plain to retire, * Charles L. Hickey, manager of the S*icial Secur ity Ikwrd’s office at 14246 Michigan avenue in Dearborn, (HiLnted out to day. He explained, however, that in sura nee payments -will not lie made to any worker as long as he is employed —that is. the worker will not m*eive an insurance jiayment for any month In which he earns as much a> sls on a job covered by the law. Workers age 65 or older who are planning to file a claim for insurance payments should consult the Social Sc curity Board office on two separate |M»ints. First, the enijidoye may not have worked long enough to Ik* eligible for benefits but if he continue* to work he may qualify later. Any work »*r who plans to retire in order to get his insurance payments should inquire whether he is eligible before quitting his job. The second isiint is <suicerued with the amount of the worker's lienefits, which will lie deteranined by the monthly average of wages he hits re ceived under the system prior to the time he applies fur benefits, whether or not he continues to work. In some instances where the employe con tin tied to work, the amount of his benefit would Im* increased if he waits and files his claim later. In other cases where the employe is working at a lower wage than formerly, it might be to his advantage to file his claim at once. «♦» ASSOCIATION ASKS (IT IN SCHOOL BUDGET The Wyandotte Taxpayers’ Associa tion. through John L Sorenson. presi dent, has sent a communication to the Board of Education, asking tluit a re duction in the sclmmi!
