This listing is made as a reservoir lor public works projects in cast* of a national emergency and should be con sidered as a long range program. Consideration should be given to the merits of the various it mils in the list ing and a six year program set up as to preferenct* and ability to finance. On February 2nd, 1942, Mr. Payette submitted an estimate of cost of in s ailing an intra-station telephone sys tem independent of the Bell Telephon. Company, which amounted to approxi mutely $1766.00 for labor and mater- 1 iai and it would, no doubt, be in use for about, twenty years. • On the rental basis of $26.55 per month from the Michigan Beil Teh - phone Company, it would cost the eit* thai amount at the end of about six years. We therefore recommend that the Council take the necessary steps to in stall the permanent equipment in pre ference to having this system on rental basis, and feel it is especiall> important that his work be done as quickly as possible to have the neees sary protection during the presen emergency. The Bell Telephone Company has quoted as follows: Direct lines between stations with out switchboard, ringing to be bj means of hand crank, all phones will ring when any station is called, $14.&. per mo. Same as above except that ringing will be done by means of outside pow er, $17j82 per mo. In addition there will he an install ation charge of $14.00 per mo. Resolved by the City Council of the City of Wyandotte that the City Clerk be and he hereby is authorized and directed to draw voucher payable bo the Municipal Service Commission in amount of $332.53 to pay for the cost of the installation of light and water for the Municiiutl Skating Rink at Pennsylvania and Twentieth Street, said amount to be paid from the Con tingent Fund of the city, as authoriz ed in resolution of the City Council passed December 9, 1911. Resolved by the City Council of the City of Wyandotte that the City Clerk be and hereby is authorized and dir i-cted to draw warrant payable to the City Treasurer in amount of $35.50. in order that he may refund this amount of $35.59 which was overpaid on account of erroneous assessment on the north 21.50 feet of Lot 5, Block 57, plan of part of Wyandotte, overassessed on the 1941 assessment roll in amount of $1300.00, and charge said amount of $35-50 to the budget appropriation for abatement of reel and personal taxes, as per the com munication of the City Assessor under (late of February 10. 1942. IResolvcd further that the City Clerk be authorized to draw warrant in the amount of $175.00, payable to Mrs. Gattow upon her furnishing a warran ty deed, approved by the City Attor ney. of said property. City Clerk Bathing Cats Many people have an idea it isn’t necessary to bathe a cat, that a cat will clean itself. This is true to z certain extent but they should be cleaned in other ways. Here are a few hints: Tabbies should be dry-cleaned with hot bran in prefer ence to a bath. The coat should be well brushed the right way. A soap bath is best for black cats—finish the job with a coat preparation to furnish gloss. A soap or bran bath is best for smokes and finish by brushing with ammonia and water. This will make the coat stand up well. Elixir of Life Alchemists of the Twelfth to Sev enteenth centuries were popularly supposed to be searching for the “philosopher’s stone” by which bas er metals could be transmuted into gold.
