PARTICIPATES IN
COLLEGE PRODUCTION
News was received the past week
from Michigan State college where
Gloria Leimback, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. E. W. Leimback, of Tele
graph road, Trenton, is enrolled,
that Miss Leimback was recently
cast in “The Fourth Mrs. Phillips,”

matrimonial difficulties of an actor.
The play was presented by the
college Studio Theater, which is the
main source of membership in Theta
Alpha Phi, national dramatics hon
orary, which aims to develop dra
matic technique in the amateur. Its
membership, consisting of freshmen,
sophomores and transfer students,
concentrates on one or two student
directed plays each meeting.
Miss Leimback is a freshman at
the college. She graduated last June
from the Trenton Slocum-Truax
high school where she gained her
splendid dramatic ability under the
capable direction of Cyril F. Leiter.

VILLAGE BANS
OUTDOOR LIGHTS
Trenton will again cooperate with
the war time conditions and dis
pense with outdoor lighting this
Christmas.
It was a request from the Office
of War Utilities of the War Produc
tion Board that caused village offi
cials, civic clubs, chamber of com
merce, merchants and citizens to
take immediate action against the
outdoor lighting.
In its request, the OWU points
out that Christmas lighting con
sumes a large amount of fuel in the
production of electricity. In most
areas the fuel situation is critical,
the officials said.

the Trenton Slocum-Truax high
school’s junior class play, “Arsenic
and Old Lace,” to be presented in

The rollicking melodramatic com
edy which saw over two years’ run
on Broadway and has been filmed
in Hollywood at popular demand, is
being directed by Cyril F. Lei ter,
dramatic coach in the high school.
The play is exciting, to say the
least, as friends attempt to guide a
couple of innocent (?) old maids
along the path of good, involving
seven or eight murders, but which
leads to a most amusing and thrill
ing climax.
Gerald M. Bowers, as a nephew
of the old maids, and who has the
male lead as Mortimer, becomes
more involved as he attempts to
help the sweet old ladles, and finds
himself in love with Elaine Harper,
the minister's daughter, the lead
ing female role, acted by Audrev
Mayfield and Delores Aten (shar
ing the leading role).
Also dividing another leading role
are Dorothy Stater and Winifred
Carey, who will portray one of the
old sisters, “Abbie.” with Iris Daley
taking the part of the other sister,
! “Martha.”
Double casting of Rev. Harper,
the minister next door, are Boyd
Arthurs and Jack Riley. Everett
Brown will be seen as another of
1 the old maids’ nephews, Ted Brew
ster. Officers gent to Investigate
and who are charmed by the okl la
dies. include lan MacDonald, as
Officer Brophy, and Cletus Gonyea.
as Officer Klein.
Berrie Boussneur will enact the
sinister role of Jonathan Brewster,
which was played on the stage by
Boris Karloff and Eric Von Stro
heim. Other character leads are:
Eugene Anderson as Dr. Einstein:
Robert Taylor as Mr. Gibbs; Allen
Brown. Officer O’Hara; Jack Price.
Lieut. Rooney; and Kenneth Knight
as Mr. Witherspoon.

assisted by Betty Taylor and Bob
Sharp as properties committee. The
stage crew is composed of Bam Gay,
Ray Baggett and Freddie Muddi
man.
Class sponsors are John Riggi,
Marshall Pixisy and Christiana
Graton.
Special music will be furnished by
the high school orchestra under the
capable direction of Harold Niel
sen. Tickets for the play may be
