%
Defeats Ecorse
After a week of unfavorable
weather, with three games can
celled, the Comets won their first
game of the season by defeating
St. Francis Xavier of Ecorse.
Allowing but five hits, Ralph
Rzeppa was the winning pitcher.
SalUote of St. Francis was charged
with the defeat.
Mt. Carmel scored in the first in
ning as Gambicki, leading off,
singled. He stole second as Spigiel
grounded out and advanced to third

then walked and Gambicki scored
before the third man was put out.
St. Francis tied up the game 1-1

Well, the Loafer's Shuffle is just
a memory, but what a memory!
Swinging to the enchanting music
of Nick Jabe and his orchestra
were many friends from Wyandotte
as well as from Detroit. The large
crowed mingled well as the affair
was indeed a social success. Every
body had a fine time! Now we are
awaiting the next dance and we
hope it will be soon!
With only 14 days of school left,
the students are dreaming of ways
to spend their vacation. Some are
looking forward to summer school,
others are in pursuit of an increase
in their financial status. Oh, well,
I always did like school! Yes, yes,
I know what you are thinking. But
this is no matter of choice!
With the school year almost at
an end, the Juniors have to think
of the responsibility that is being
handed down to them. However, I
think there are no better recipients.
We shall have the difficult job of
substituting for some of these out
standing Seniors. For example:
Buddy Biniasz —president. I won
der who will get into his boots as
the efficient and friendly president
of the Student Council, and partic
ularly in getting us out of a jam
. , . such as the day after the per
formance of the Operetta.
Buns Grupczynski, the assistant
librarian. It will be hard to substi
tute him and find someone so help
ful, especially during solid geome
try and trig classes.
“Bossie” Fronczak. basketball
manager. Definitely, his assistant
will not be as clear as Henry in
giving the directions to the out-of
town basketball games.
Mary Jozwiak, secretary of the
Student Council will also be hard
to replace. As far as work goes,
maybe. . . . But beauty, well there
is another thing again!
Nonette Betker will easily be re
placed in giving the signals for the
change of classes . . . but I doubt
that there is another girl with a
better school spirit . . . and with
more sacrifice for her Alma Mater
than Non had.
Well, this could go on and on,
but I just wanted to show you what
a job the Juniors are taking on
their shoulders. But as it is always
said, “They can take it.”
LAST MINUTE
Here we were wishing that we
would have another dance soon,
and the good word has come. There
WILL be a dance, called "Cap and
Gown Frolic” on the evening of
May 29. The music this time as
before will be provided by Nick
Jabe and his orchestra. See you
then!
So long for now!
