struggle for Freedom.
We thrill to the Canadian epic of Dieppe as to the story of our own landing at Tarawa. Never can we forget the Story of Stalingrad. Ten
thousand small boats leaving the pyre of Dunkirk • • • the roar of the outnumbered R.A.F. in the Battle of Britain • • • Churchill thunder
ing defiance in England's darkest hour • • • the March of the Eighth Army through Africa • • . England's saga. too. has become our own.
As long as free men live. Americans will recall the daring of the jungle-fighting Aussies in New Guinea and the glory of the Chinese Armies
fighting doggedly through seven years of war against the common foe whose defeat we celebrate today.
To all of these and to the Fighting French, the heroic Greeks, the Czechs, the Poles, the Dutch, the Norwegians, the Jews of all nations
who defied the Nazi terror, the Jugo-Slav and Philippino guerrillas and the gallant Red Armies to all cf r and partners
in arms, we pay grateful tribute today.
