The first night St. Pats the second we beat Sacred Heart. Put the biggest deal of the season was when our Irishmen showed a few' Mount Carmel fans that we've got what it takes. Boy, the words really flew that night. St. Pats will play the championship games at Ypsilanti starting next Thursday. • • t The Senior Play, “Here She Comes’' proved to be a real suc cess . . . and thanks to all who made it so. • • • Since Betty Harkins has left St. Pats . . . the freshies have racked their brains trying to find a con genial, reliable sort of person to take Betty's place as class treas urer. They’ve finally found their personality. Who’s the lucky dam sel? Why, none other than pretty Ann McDonald. • • • What’s happened to the Whitlow- Miller romance? Rumors say that this onee-so-steady twosome had a big fight . . . but then, true love never runs smooth. Wyandotte Teachers Delegates to State Edncation Convention When delegates representing classroom teachers throughout the state of Michigan gather in Lan sing, Saturday, for their first post war assembly, the presiding officer will be a Saeinaw kindergarten teacher, Ethel Zipp Miss Zipp is president of the Department of Classroom Teachers o f the Michigan Education Asso ciation, having been elected at the time the organization was formed in March, 1944. Because of the war ban on conventions, there has been no meeting of the Delegate Assem bly since that time. The Delegate Assembly of the Local School Students Hold Auctions , Shine Shoes for Junior Red Cross Auction, shoe shines, box socials —that’s only a part of the way Wyandotte schools are conducting a campaign to raise funds for their share of the National American Red Cross drive. Each school is carrying out its fund appeal in its own way. Roose velt high school has organized each English class into a separate com mittee to collect money in any way it can find. Once class is run ning a shoe shine stand in the hall with both boys ad girls taking turns shining shoes. Wednesday was bow day with blue and yellow bows being sold throughout the school. Rites will be held at 2 p.m. Fri day from the Nixon funeral home for David Hill, Jr., 51, 220 Eureka, who died at the Wayne County general hospital Monday following a lengthy illness. Burial will be at Michigan Mem orial cemetery. John E. Osborne, a Democrat, was first Governor of Wyoming, after it was admitted to statehood in 1890. M E.A. Classroom Teachers Depart ment is the legislative body for that group. Its 128 delegates are elected by the classroom teachers’ section of the 106 M.EA. Districts. Assembly will elect a pres ident and vice-president for the coming year, and will consider re ports from committees that ha\e been studying teacher welfare, post war planning, youth guidance, and teacher certification. Attending as ex-offrcio delegate will be: Fred Staples, 3346 T|ven tieth. Miss Janice Gillette, 114 Oax strqet, is an alternate. of butter, hard-to-get candy and other merchandise. Labadie school which originated the auction idea is having one again and has added a box social as its chief money-making scheme. Lincoln school is having a box social, dance and selling Red Cross badges. McKinley school has a number of children who must stay for lunch so they are spending their noon hours dancing and turn ing in the profits to the JRC. Washington school will sponsor a paper drive and St. Stanislaus, an assembly. At Woodruff income from a student newspaper will be do nated. For the first time since Wyan dotte has been sending delegates to the Wayne county Junior Red Cross council, every junior and sen ior high school in the city *s rep resented at the Saturday sessions. Money received in the Junior drive will be used for three pur poses: to pay the enrollment in the Red Cross; for the service fund which is used to buy supplies for the various articles made by the group during the year for service men: educational work of the Na tional Children’s fund, mainly pur chase of educational supplies for destitute children in war-torn countries. ATTENDS POST GRADUATE COURSE IN CHIROPODY Dr. Charles L. Smerling, Wyan dotte chiropodist, is in Cleveland this week attending a post-grad uate course in advanced chiropody, sponsored by the Ohio Chiropodists association at the Ohio College of Chiropody.
