Relief Corps Entertains Thursday afternun of last week the members of Cauby Relief Corps, with their friends, were entertained most pleasantly at the home of Mrs. Alida Shoemaker. Thirty-three ladies were present and enjoyed one of the best socials the Corps has yet given. Music, songs and social conversation, made the time pass all too soon. Delicious re freshments were served by the ladies, and all declared the afternoon perfect. A collection amounting to $f.!50 was taken which will be used in philan thropic work. Another social meeting was had yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. J. II. Gill, which was largely attended and much enjoyed. Municipality Meeting April 1 A mass meeting, to discuss the pro posed formation of a new municipality in the valley, will be held at two o'clock on the afternoon of Saturday, April 4. Those who are promoting the pro posed municipality campaign declare that they desire to present all facts to the people residing in the bounds of the pioposed town, the election for the incorporation of which will be held on April 20. I. A. McClanathan has been making surveys in the valley on behalf of the Farmer's Irrigating Co., infor mation touching on which will be given those present at the meeting. North Da kota, on a eharg. of having killed the foreman of a large ranch owned by bis father. The detective declares that the young msn was acquitted as the result of a wholesale bribery. Extra ition of the young man is asked. How ever, he has been released on a bail of $5,000, the amount fixed by Judge Stanton, before whom the young man was tried Saturday. Joe Jobnsen, '13, recently appeared, with the vioiln. in comic opera at Walla Walla, where he ia attending school. The Whitman college paper made fa vorable comment of bis performance. The tennis courts are very much used now. At no preceding year have so many tennis racquets or tennis enthu siasts been quartered at the school. The two courts are insufficient to ac commodate the hopefuls wishing to play. It is probable, however, that warmer weather will deaden the ardor of some offthe would-be sharks.
